NOW Vitamin D-3 softgels supply this key vitamin in a highly-absorbable liquid softgel form. Vitamin D is normally obtained from the diet or produced by the skin from the ultraviolet energy of the sun. However, is it not abundant in food. As more people avoid sun exposure, Vitamin D supplementation becomes even more necessary to ensure that your body receives and adequate supply.
Suggested Use

=>Vitamin D-3 is produced by the skin when exposed to sun light. As we age, our skin becomes less effective at producing this critical vitamin. I am an older person, so I could spend all day in the sun and still not be getting enough D-3. I take this to supplement my body to make sure I am getting enough D-3. I have read literature that follows a guideline of supplementing with around 2,000 IU after the age of 35 and around 5,000 IU after the age of 50. I follow this guideline, which is why I take 5,000 IU. There are many manufacturers now that sell D-3, and I am sure that many are good. I buy the NOW brand because I trust this company to give me the highest quality for the most reasonable price. I don’t buy everything from NOW Foods, because I assess each product as to what company I should buy from.
[+] INGREDIENTS
Active:
– Vitamin D3 as Cholecalciferol from Lanolin (125mg : 5000IU : 625%DV)
Other:
– Softgel Capsule (bovine gelatin, water, glycerin) and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
[+] WHAT TO EXPECT
Vitamin D-3 is not a vitamin that will give you an effect for the most part. I have heard about some people who find their skin to become softer or other such mild effects. But, for the most part, I take D-3 because my body needs it to function properly, not because any symptom I am having. Think of Vitamin D-3 like putting oil in your car. For the most part, even if your car is low in oil, it runs just fine. That’s why we check it with a dip stick otherwise who would know. But, if you run your car low in oil long enough, then symptoms will appear. However, then it’s too late. The damage to your car has already been done. That’s how I think about taking D-3. It’s something that needs to be maintained, but if it’s not, then your body will eventually break down in some way – and as with the car, then its too late.
[+] USAGE/DOSE
The suggested usage (from the label) is to, “Take 1 softgel every 2 days with a fat-containing meal, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner.” I take one softgel per day; however, there are days that I skip taking it. I am not advocating to deviate from the product’s suggested use; I am only conveying what I do. On average, I most likely take this product 4-5 times a week. If I forget to take this product (along with my multi-vitamin) for more than a couple of days, I usually take two the first day.

My vitamin D level was low at a 15 three years ago. My doctor prescribed 50,000 IU D-2 weekly. Decreased that to monthly when levels reached 22, but levels dropped again and she changed it to monthly. Finally, a different doctor told me to take daily D-3 and my levels went to 33 in a month!
These were the most affordable I found and I’ve had success with NOW products in the past. They are very small with no odor and easy to take.
Bottle arrived with the bottom very dented in, but no damage to product inside.

I switched from an expensive name brand to a more affordable brand.
Ill be honest, I switched simply because of the price.
Its a vitamin, and its doing the same thing as the expensive brand.
I can feel no difference in my immune system and they are doing the same thing.
Along with the two other daily vitamins we take on a daily basis, it is supporting our health in a positive manner.
Again, other than price, milligrams, and amount of pills you get there is no difference in the ingredients. It didn’t make sense for me to spend the extra $10 for the same thing. However, since it is your health I wouldn’t recommend buying the cheapest of the cheap poorly made bad brand vitamins. At least stick with companies that have some integrity and ethics.
I would highly recommend the this brand brand for vitamins, and this product for a daily overall health booster.
Thank you,
Joseph P

The product was delivered on time and i started taking 2 pills a day for a week then cut it down to 1 pill every other day all through winter 2019. I felt a big change within a period of about 10-12 days. All the endless fatigue was gone, I FELT MORE ACTIVE AND HAPPIER ALL THROUGH THE WINTER COLD. I am so happy i was finally able to enjoy the winter and even started going for long walks most evenings. Before i bought these supplements, i would be curled up in bed feeling chilled to the bones, regardless of how high i set the heater. These vit D supplements are the deal.

These are crazy pandemic times. It was my over the phone doctor’s appointment when my doctor suggested that I start taking this particular dose of d3. It was suggested because I am considered “high risk” for covid-19. She said this should boost immunity and every boost that I can get, I’ll take. I was surprised by the size as well as the suggested dosage. I thought perhaps I have to take this every day, but according to the bottle the dosage is 1 softgel every 2 days. I felt so bad for those who posted pics of the softgels stuck together into one big blob as my bottle was in great condition as were the softgells. I would buy them again.

Do I know the absorbancy factor, No. How would I?
WE find a brand we trust and hope they provide a superior product. We trust the vitamin or nutrient will provide
good absorption, bioavailability, and boost the body’s immune system to ward off whatever malady dares to attack this picture of vibrance and health : )
Did I take a baseline blood sample, No.
Did I analyze my blood after taking this nutritional supplement, No.
Would that make any difference absolutely not.
Many claim vitamins are nothing more than a placebo. Given the fact I believe the human mind is the most powerful tool we possess, I also believe that all the nutritional supplements I consume add up to a stronger immune system.
That allows me to say that IF all I receive is a placebo boost of 10, 20 or 30%, I’m happy to tickle my gray matter to provide that increase and therefore I get benefit from the regime I indulge in daily.

My go to vitamin supplement. My vit D level is in the normal range since starting 5000 Units daily. When I decreased it to about 3x week my level dropped. Check with your doctor for your own dosages.

During the summertime I don’t take this Vit. D because I’m in the sun about an hour a day (wearing shorts and a shirt). During the rest of the year I take it 5 days of the week – one pill each morning with other supplements such as fish oil which may help absorbency. On 1 blood Test my score was 70 – the doctor said that he had never seen such a high reading! This reading was one month after summertime – so I had not taken the supplement for 3 months, and then had taken the supplement 5 days a week (not weekends since I get some sun on weekends) for one month. Two years later, a second blood test was 60 – This blood test was taken in the middle of winter in California (still some sun) so I was taking it 5 times a week (not on weekends). I think that when people take a supplement consistently, the body gets used to it and the reading goes down. So, not taking it consistently (when there’s outside sun time), and taking it with other oil based supplements I think really makes a difference.
I don’t know how the intermittent scheduling would work in colder areas. You could try using the same schedule and post how it works in your area. Hope it works out well!

I trust NOW. Use a few of their products. Was on 50,000IU Prescription Vitamin D for my Auto Immune Disease.
But I was tired of having to have my hair cut every 2-3 weeks and trim my nails every 3 days (literally).
So tried this daily. My lab work Vitamin D levels are still great!
The pills are also tiny. So that’s a plus.
5 Stars!

These are a good value with no crap ingredients. The Vitamin D is Lanolin based, so if you’re allergic to sheep wool, you’re going to have issues and will need a vegan D sourced from lichen. Also understand that with D supplementation, you will be able to absorb more calcium. If you are not getting enough Vitamin K2 in your diet, all that extra calcium you absorb will go to your arteries and cause atherosclerosis. Heart attacks are eventually caused by this, NOT cholesterol. K2 tells the calcium to go to your bones and teeth instead of your soft tissues. Do yourself a huge long-term health favor and read “Vitamin K2 And The Calcium Paradox: How a Little-Known Vitamin Could Save Your Life” or at least research Vitamin K2.

I have been using this brand of Vit D for awhile and feel that it has made a difference in my mood and energy level. After I started to take it, I felt different and knew it was working so started my husband on it as well. He was sufferng from mild depression and he’s doing much better now. I’ve noticed he’s not up and down with his mood so much anymore, but going steady. I love all the other health benefits, as well, but these outcomes alone make it a huge plus for us to continue taking this dose daily.
