I have been using spirutein protein powder for many years, and I was excited when Amazon started carrying the large containers of it. The chocolate is my favorite, but I like this flavor as well. I have not noticed the flavor issues mentioned by others, but perhaps I purchased after they had resolved the issue. I use this powder for vegan protein shakes (note it does have beeswax if that is an issue for you). I would highly recommend this product.
Chamberpaint –
The fabulous OLD FORMULA! I shouldn’t even tell anybody. It’s so hard to find this one, with the good flavor, that makes a CREAMY smoothie. Not watery!
Together Shopper –
Love the quality of this product. Mixes well in smoothies or great with almond milk. Quite filling.

I have been buying this particular product for almost 10 yrs now. Of all of the proteins I have tried, this is the one my body tolerates the best. It also has a complete amino acid makeup which is noted on the package. I will not buy a protein powder that does not list its amino acid breakdown on it because 9 times out of 10 those powders offer little nutritional value and alot of sugar.
I have sjrogrens and other autoimmune issues. Remarkably the soy in this does not cause a flare, but I do not have a high soy allergy. As for taste and mixing, this is the type of shake you can make with just water and it will be perfect. it blends well yet is heavy enough that when you open it you dont end up with a counter full of powder. Remember this is made with Rice, Pea, and Soy for protein. Protip: Add a packet of orange Emergen-c to it and it makes a lower calorie version of an Orange Julius that wont give you diabetes.
Pros:
Mixes well with milks, juices, sparkling water, and plain water
Has high nutritional value – Amino Acid breakdown is on the label
Vegetarian Protein: Rice, Pea, Soy
Decent sugar: Balanced sugar, but if you want lower carb, the Spiru-tein Gold line is better.
Cons:
None. Though word to the wise, this product has spirulina in it which means, once mixed, must not be left out sit in room temperature or heat. If it spoils, you can kiss whatever container it was in goodbye (unless it is made of glass). Speaking from the experience of the occasional shake bottle left in car during the summer over a weekend. You will never clean out the smell of spoiled spirulina from any plastic.

I’ve been drinking Spirutein for years! It’s delicious and low calorie. I think it’s best with cashew milk or oat milk. Hooray for Spirutein!
hanseat –
This is the most balanced and best tasting protein shake I have ever used.
It’s a little more expensive but well worth the money.
SurferGirl –
Tastes good! My usual source, vitamin world, closed their store near me. I usually buy the larger can, but the smaller can will tide me over until I can try to find a local source. I love the flavor and ease of use.
Samantha Wroe –
This is my moms favorite protein powder and I am hooked after trying it once. No weird after taste and I have great energy after one smoothie. I would absolutely recommend. Im also diabetic so the nutritional facts are important, this brand has great ones.
Yasmine –
This is a fabulous protein shake. If you only add water and ice, it is great, and completely vegetarian, dairy free, and gluten free. You can add milk, coffee, or about anything. Add rootbeer and it tastes like a rootbeer float. This product also comes in MANY different flavors and sizes. The protein is great, and the taste is definitely decent. You don’t need a blender, but I like to use one. It is also kosher and pareve. I have not found anything better at all on the market! Can’t be beat!
Rhonda Porter –
Since this product did away with the 100% Soy base protein, it seems as though they may have also lowered the Spirilina content as well? Over all, it still seems like a good product, but have noticed a change in the contents.

This premium product has been a staple in our home for over 25 years. My kids had a “shake” every morning for breakfast growing up. One became a division I dual athlete and is still growing strong. The other beat life threatening asthma that started at 3 months old and a dramatic chest expanding operation that he is fully and joyously recovered from to become a black belt in TKD. I feel feeding them right was part of good mothering and gave them a foot up to reach up higher. There isn’t anyway they would have gotten the amino acids and other plant based health effects from a regular diet without the boost of Spirutein.

This is my second can that I have purchased. I love this energy protein powder. I mix it with unsweetened Almond milk, a scoop of peanut butter or any type of fruit, and a cup of ice. Not only does it keep me full for about 4 hours, I have so much energy. It is a meal replacer so I only eat solid foods twice a day. I have dropped about 10 pounds in a three month period with NO exercise.
Sharon Murch –
This does not blend easily but that’s okay. You might think I’m crazy, but I put eight ounces of unsweetened almond milk in a coffee cup, add a scoop of spirutien, and mix lightly, then I eat it with a spoon, like a lumpy pudding. Seriously my favorite dessert. Better than ice cream!
TK –
I like this protein powder very much for the fact that it is whey free, the amount of protein and all the good nutrients it provides. My only issue with it is unless you put it in the blender it is hard to get it to mix. I add it to Lactaid milk on its own and it tastes great but there are usually some “lumps” even with using a jar with a lid and shaking it to mix. I would highly recommend this product.
Nance –
I’ve been using this protein powder for many years now, and have found it to be the best tasting one on the market. There are no “powder” or vitamin aftertastes in my opinion. I purchase the vanilla and incorporate with almond milk and frozen fruit. You can’t go wrong with this product.
Victor –
I’ve been drinking this since 2012. Every morning I get my Vanilla flavored or chocolate flavored shake with a banana or some berries and oats. Tasted Pretty good I tell you. I’ve not noticed a difference in flavor from the old formula to the new. Might be because I prefer stevia as a sweetener to anything else or might be because I mix it with berries. But all in all This product is great.
Amazon Customer –
It’s expensive, but worth it. I will only buy this protein powder. I’ve tried some awful ones. This one is delicious.
Kindle Customer –
I have used this for years. The problem is that one canister arrived damaged. Product had spilled out into the box. Concerned about contamination. The way it was packed one canister had broken the other. To get a replacement I have to pack and send back. Inconvenient. Live in a rural area.
Rubin Jeantel –
Love this protein drink. Only one that is gentle on my stomach
kjoconnor –
I have been using this shake mix for a couple of years now and I absolutely love it, there is no aftertaste, no stomach discomfort (if you know what I mean) and I feel great and full for the afternoon. I use this with Blueberries and Unsweetened Almond Milk and it is the best!
Teresa Hernandez –
it’s a great value when it’s on special, but at full price it’s a bit much. I buy it for my elderly parents for their daily shakes, they like the flavor which makes it easy to for them to take their supplements
Content consumer –
Ive been using this product over 10 years and have never been disappointed. It mixes smoothly in a shaker cup, and blends well with other ingredients in a blender. Every flavor is true to description. A bit higher in price vs other brands but well worth it. Switching brands has always been a waste of money.

I’ve been Nature’s Plus for Years. Can’t find it in the stores near me. Very grateful I can order it online, and for good value. I have tried capsule vitamins for years. They really don’t work for me . This product works for me. Feel like my body absorbs the vitamins in this product better than in capsules. I put a scoop full in plain water and its fine. Sometimes, I will pit in blender with fruit and water and make a smoothie. It’s really a grest product. Thanks for sending it in a timely way.

I have been using this protein powder for years. It has become harder to find so I’m glad I found it here. It is also cheaper here than in retail stores. I will continue buying my protein powder here. It is also nearly vegan with the exception of bee pollen. Tastes great mixed with my smoothies!
K. N. Grieshaber –
This is a great protein shake. I put half glass of Orange juice, about 5 ice cubes in a blender, then add two scoops of the spirutein. It has lots a vitamins and fills you up with no fat. It looks funky green but tastes good. Spiruleina is protein from seaweed and was used to treat obesity. I have this for lunch when I haven’t shopped for healthy food and am about to go buy a greasy burger or fried food.
It is also a good source of vitamins if you dislike taking pills.
Cat Mann –
I have this (or another flavor) every day in a fruit smoothie. I make about 32oz total, with a banana, some applesauce, a few tablespoons of yogurt, 4oz frozen fruit (thawed in water in microwave), and either juice or 50% juice/water mix. Add in one scoop of Spirutein and blend it well. Pour in a 32oz Tupperware screw-top, and I can take my meal with me as I drive to work. Takes under 10 minutes to make, lasts me about 4-5 hours at a physically strenuous job.

This is my 3rd can of Spirutein but my 1st one I have finished all the way through (because I am horrible at finishing things). I was hesitant to try it when I bought a sample packet a couple years ago because I have a lot of weird food sensitivities and a lot of healthy meal replacement shakes taste disgusting and contain things I cannot have. However, this by far exceeds my expectations. I use it as a meal replacement after my workouts. I am on the thin side so I don’t use it for weight loss nor have I had any weight loss while using it. What I have noticed is more energy, less muscle fatigue (but that could be from something else), and my stomach is a little more regulated with a lot less severe heartburn episodes. I am not sure, but if I compare my health to a month ago, there is a significant difference. I just received my 2nd can of vanilla today. Maybe I will try different flavors if the ingredients are similar. I am glad this product exists.
James Magsamen –
I thoroughly enjoy the vanilla Spirutein. It is delicious specially when I add a banana and speed blend it. I ordered the 2.4 lbs. first to try it and ordered the 5 pound container after 2 weeks.
I do not know what some reviews meant when they said the old formula is better than the new formula.
Rizzles –
This has been my favorite protein powder since 2006. It does seem to dissolve much better than it did when I first bought it back then. However, I was dismayed to see how small the can was when it arrived. I’d paid around $30 for a big can of this back in the day. This can was half or maybe even a third of the size so it was more expensive. My fault as I did not research that well enough before buying. But I still highly recommend this powder. Spirulina is a cancer fighter.
Christy –
I suffer from severe migraines and IBS, I am unable to tolerate sugar substitutes of any kind (including stevia). This is the only product out there that tastes good and doesn’t cause any health issues for me.
