Honestly, I want to give this fewer stars, as it has an unmaskable taste and I would never buy it again. That said, it’s a good protein:calorie ratio for a vegan protein. I like the mix of protein sources and the nutrients. But the taste… I’ve had a lot of powders and shakes in my day, and I found most of them to be fair to middling. The occasional good one was usually chocolate, and vanilla was mostly benign. I like to mix fruits and veggies in, sometimes a drop of vanilla extract, years of tricks to change or enhance the flavor profile. This is only the second one that’s just “ew”, beyond redemption, and nothing I do seems to make it any better. However, my friend made us shakes with it and she didn’t have any negative impression of the taste. (I think she even bought some for herself.) My experience clearly cannot be extrapolated onto others, so if the taste doesn’t bug you, it’s a solid product.

This is probably the best protein shake I have never tried! Great consistency, not too sweet, and excellent chocolatey flavor! Ohh and as a vegetarian, I appreciate the ingredients more than anything!

The best tasting & priced protein. I only mix with water & a fruit in my nutrabullet. Itll be a hint of green dye to all the yummy veggies in it. A huge reason why I drink it because I know I do not get enough daily vegetables. Surprisingly I tried an individual packet flavor from target I picked up a vanilla & the chocolate & love the vanilla over the chocolate & I never like vanilla protein

It’s not disgustingly bad, but compared to other non-vegan powders, it definitely is a little harder to get down. I have only tried mixing it with water thus far, so I am not sure how it’ll taste with milk options. But taste wise, it’s watery with a hint of green and quite bland. I drink this as a post-workout, due to the amount of protein in it but I would definitely opt for a protein bar once this container is empty. Also, why are the scoops of all powder drinks always buried so deep into the powder!!

I’ve been searching for a protein powder without whey as my stomach can’t tolerate whey. This Vega Essentials tastes amazing! I’ve been using it in almond milk and throwing in some chia seeds.

I was extremely confused by the scooper I found within the container. I reguarly order this shake so I thought the scooper looked oddly LARGER than usual? I measured it out in tablespoons and it was roughly six tablespoons? That seems almost double the serving size. I found an old scooper I saved and it was 3 tablespoons tightly packed. Definitely something off about the scooper received with this one. Anyone else have this problem?

I can blend it alone with water in my blender bottle and it dissolves smoothly and perfectly! Or I can get fancy and throw in milk, banana and honey and everything will be blended to perfection. Either way the taste is great. I love the vitamins it has. As someone that can accidentally go all day without eating much, drinking this makes me feel like my body caught up and I feel good again. It’s very easy on my stomach and if I drink it alone without any extra ingredients, I might still be hungry. But that’s how silky smooth it is on your tummy.:)
I’m skeptical of the people saying it has metals or whatever. I think if it was that serious it wouldn’t be sold. Anyways, bless everything that comes into your body with good energy/prayer. You’ll be fine. Try the protein 🙂

I have decided to move from regular to vegan protein powders, and bought three types to try: garden of life, orgain, and vega chocalate flavor. To my personal taste, I found Orgain to be quite good 4/5, followed by Vega 3/5, and garden of life last 2/5. To me, ‘good’ is like a regular Wendy’s chocolate frosty. For mixability, Orgain and Vega were excellent 5/5, and Garden of life was pretty good but not quite as good: 4/5.

I don’t normally write product reviews, but I have to for this product because it is one of the best protein powders I have yet to try!
I have been a fan of the Vega brand for awhile now. I got bariatric surgery in 2015 so I have tried many shakes, but this one is the best chocolate flavor I’ve yet to try. Today I made a shake with 1/2 banana, unsweetened almond milk, and one scoop of the Vega Essentials Chocolate powder and it was so delicious!
Long story short, I have regained some weight from my pregnancy and am trying to lose it again and one of the ways I’m losing weight is by drinking meal replacement shakes 1-2 times a day. I was going to buy a more expensive brand like Shakeology but I’ve found this works just as good and it’s a lot more cost effective.
It’s a quick, easy, inexpensive, and delicious solution to losing weight the healthy way. Thank you Vega for making such an awesome low-carb, healthy protein powder!!!

Ok so I was very bummed with my first smoothie I made. It did not mix well and there is a very distinct aftertaste. I had added blueberries, mandarine(peeled) and I used plain almond milk instead of water, also some ice; there is no system to how I add usually liquid goes in first. I had to basically force myself to drink it. For the second shake I added powder first then almond milk and blended really well, then added sliced banana and about tsp of peanut butter, blended again. Added ice at the end and blended. Much much better! Still an aftertaste but I will more then likely get used to it. I was looking for something in comparison to shakeology, because of cost and this is what came up on Pinterest. I have never tried shakeology, so not sure if taste and mixture is something this can actually compare to.

The first powder shake and health/protein shake in general I’ve ever actually liked. I mix half soy/almond, half water, 1 scoop. Just recently I tried baking brownies with it and it’s not bad, more of a muffin type texture but depends on how you make it. I do 1 scoop, 1 egg (extra protein!) just a bit of milk to make it less thick, a little bit of coconut oil and honey, which you don’t have to add really because it’s already sweet. A little bit helps balance my low blood sugar. I’d like to try adding some melted dark chocolate to make it richer. I’ll have 1- 2 for breakfast or take one for when I’m on the go. I actually lost some weight just having these for breakfast and eating well throughout the day. I’m not the type who can drink only liquid as a meal so when I’m having a light meal I’ll do salad and add a shake and it satifies me. And lastly, amazing for pms craving. I can ditch the ben & jerry’s for a shake when I need to, and the brownie/muffins are perfect for chocolatey sustinance.

I just got my package delivered came WAY earlier than I thought which was excited because I wanted to get my routine started early (I’m replacing breakfast with this smoothie) all in all, I like the taste it has a bit of a protein powder ish taste but I think that’s true of all protein powders it’s not overpowering like others may be. I tried the recipe on the lid which was banana/ice/scoop of powder/cup of non dairy milk & ice. So delicious! Highly recommend. Value for my money I’ll update once I’m finished with this bottle and see how many drinks I can actually get out of it.

First time buying this brand. I have had other plant based proteins. This chocolate flavor does not taste good with just mixing it with water to me but what I found to taste really good is mixing it with water, banana, and soy milk which makes a really great protein shake. Price wise I find it a lil too expensive, but it has the extra ingredients of multi vitamins and greens and other things. Also it mixes a lot better with warm/hot water. Mixing it with cold water just gives you chunks everywhere.
