Source Naturals Yaeyama Chlorella is 100% freshwater chlorella, grown on the coral reef island of Ishigaki, Japan. Chlorella is a green superfood of pure algae that is a rare vegetarian source of true vitamin B-12. It is also a good source of iron and vitamin A and a complete vegetarian protein. Chlorella gets its green color from the plant pigment, chlorophyll. Our non-GMO chlorella is made from 100% chlorella and is free of binders, fillers or excipients. Preliminary evidence, including some human research, suggests that chlorella may help support the health of the liver and the immune system.

Scott or not –
I have taken Chlorella daily for many years. I swear by it, to help my body to repair itself. Chlorella is rich in vitamin E, A, iron, and proteins, as well as it’s big selling point, the “chlorella growth factor”. I hadn’t purchased the Yaeyama brand for a while (I usually get Swanson), but due to a price issue, I decided to get this from Amazon. I feel this is an average to above average brand.
One thing I noticed compared to the Swanson brand, is the tablets seem smaller. I hadn’t noticed that in the past, but they are still 200mg according to the manufacturer.
The biggest difference from what I understand (based on sales pitches from various Chlorella companies), is how the cell walls are broken open, to make the “good stuff” inside them usable by the body. Some companies use heat, some use chemicals, and one touts their patented “Dyno-Mill” machine that crushes the outer wall (at a VERY expensive cost apparently, since that brand is by far the most expensive on the market). I’m not sure how the cell wall on this brand is broken.
These come from Japan (not some toxic Chinese crap). That is probably the biggest reason why I bought this brand this time, and also have in the past, because I trust the Japanese to sell quality, safe products.
When starting this review, it asks me to rate the flavor. It’s in tablet form, and except for a few times when I’ve left one in my mouth too long before swallowing them, I’ve never been intentionally exposed to a “flavor”. However, I can tell you that with these particular ones, I did have one in my mouth too long very recently, and it tasted the way algae should taste- not something I would want to intentionally taste again!
If you have never taken chlorella before, when you begin taking it, take 5 per day for the first week, increasing by 5 each subsequent week to the number you want. If you start taking 10 or 15 immediately, you will spend a good amount of time in the bathroom!
I recommend this product.

Perfect for my supplement fast. These are pills that I much prefer to capsules. They smelled fresh and I believe they worked well for my fast.
