The True Strength of Whey
Whey Protein Isolate (WPIs) are the purest form of whey protein that currently exists. WPIs are costly to use, but rate among the best proteins that money can buy. That’s why they’re the first ingredient you read on the Gold Standard 100% Whey label. By using WPI as the primary ingredient along with premium ultra-filtered whey protein concentrate (WPC), we’re able to pack 24 grams of protein into every serving to support your muscle building needs after training. ON’s attention to detail also extends to mixability. This superior quality powder has been instantized to mix easily using a shaker cup or just a glass and spoon. There’s no doubt that this is the standard by which all other whey proteins are measured.
Beyond the Basics
- 77% Protein by Weight (24g of Protein per 31g Serving Size)
- Whey Protein Isolate (WPI) Main Ingredient.
- Whey Protein Microfractions from Whey Protein Isolate and Ultra-Filtered Whey Protein Concentrate.
- Over 4 Grams of Naturally Occurring Glutamine & Glutamic Acid in Each Serving.
- More than 5 Grams of the Naturally Occurring Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine in Each Serving.
- The “Gold Standard” for Protein Quality.
Suggested Use
Spoon Stirred: Gold Standard 100% Whey is Instantized. That means if you forgot your shaker cup or don’t have time to get out the blender, just add one rounded scoop of Gold Standard 100% Whey to a glass filled with 6-8 oz of water or your favorite beverage. Then mix it up with a spoon. Stir for about 30 seconds or until powder is completely dissolved. Tip: Adjust the taste of your Gold Standard 100% Whey by varying the amount of liquid that you use to prepare it. For a bolder flavor with slightly more body and sweetness, mix each scoop with 4-6 oz of water, milk, or your favorite beverage. For a milder tasting, less sweet shake, use 8-10 oz of liquid per scoop.
Shaker Cup:Â Bringing a shaker cup with you to the gym is the best way to get a powerful dose of protein immediately after your workout. Just pour 6-8 oz of your preferred beverage and then add one scoop of Gold Standard 100% Whey to your shaker cup. Cover and shake for 25-30 seconds.
Blender: Add one rounded scoop of Gold Standard 100% Whey to a blender filled with 6-8 oz of water or your favorite beverage. Blend for 20-30 seconds. Then add 1 or 2 ice cubes and blend for an additional 30 seconds. Shake Up Your Shake: By adding fresh or frozen fruits, peanut butter, flax seed oil, coconut and other ingredients, you can make an even more delicious shake. Stack Your Shake: You can make Gold Standard 100% Whey an even better post workout product by adding supplements like creatine, glutamine, BCAA, and concentrated carbohydrate powders.
Think Outside the Glass:Â Gold Standard 100% Whey can be used for more than just protein shakes. Try mixing a scoop into oatmeal, yogurt, or the milk that you pour over your morning breakfast cereal. Better yet, increase the protein content of muffins, cookies, brownies, etc. by adding a scoop or two to your baked goods recipes.
For healthy adults, consume enough protein to meet your daily protein requirements with a combination of high protein foods and protein supplements throughout the day as part of a balanced diet and exercise program.

On. Gold Standard 100% Whey. Strawberry. As of October 2018.
Ingredients off the jug: Protein Blend (Whey Protein Isolates, Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Peptides), Lecithin, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Citric Acid, Sucralose, FD&C Red#40, Aminogen, Lactase
– Saw some reviews saying they changed the ingredients. Thought this would help.
– Ingredients on jug (above) are slightly different than listed on AMZN site.
– One review (Jan2017) said they removed Aminogen (helps absorption). Contrarily, you can see that it’s still listed in these ingredients.
– Some reviews referenced the addition of Sucralose as being not good. That is indeed here.
Taste:
– Good. No complaints. I’m a chocoholic. Recently realized that other flavors can be good too. In fact, sometimes forcing everything into chocolate doesn’t work.
Effectiveness:
– Seems to be working 🙂
Other
– 1 serving = 1 “rounded” scoop = 24 g protein. 73 servings / container. = 1,752 g protein in a 5lb jug for ~$51.
– 1 scoop dissolves easily in 8 oz of water (1/2 a water bottle)
Why not 5 stars? Just b/c I’m not a professional nutritionist, chemist, body builder, etc. I’d want my 5 star to mean more.

ON is: 5lb. Tub/73 scoops. Other proteins are: 5lb./45+ scoops. I like the delicious strawberry flavor. I actually look forward to my post workout drink unlike other bad tasting whey proteins(ex:Flexatarian Whey). This protein mixes very easily with milk or water. I try other proteins, ex: Animal Whey, Mutant Pro 100, BSN Syntha-6, but I always come back to ON whey protein. I take this protein(1scoop) w/water immediately after working out. Then at night I take 1 serving(scoop) of BSN syntax-6 whey protein w/10 oz. milk, 1 banana, 2 spoonfuls of peanut butter, and 1/2 cup of oats as a last meal/mass gainer before bed. I recommend ON protein to anyone looking for a quality protein at an affordable price. That’s all.

I was skeptical since I can’t tolerate the over the top artificial taste and sweetness in many of the protein drinks that are out there. This is by far and hands down the best tasting protein powder I have had. I mix it with unsweetened vanilla almond milk and it tastes like a vanilla shake. There is very little after taste and the texture is super smooth with just a shaker/blender bottle. The perfect afternoon snack to fill me up til dinner and satisfy my sweet tooth.

I’m not a big fan of chocolate so I decided to go with the Delicious Strawberry. It works for what it is. I wouldn’t call it “delicious” but it’s a protein powder: man up and drink it. I was expecting a much worse taste but either other protein powders taste godlike or other consumers are picky eaters. Mixed with water it sorta tastes like watered down juice. I’m lactose intolerant so I’m not throwing milk in there anytime soon. I’m happy with my purchase and will most likely continue to buy more.

This is the best Protein powder you can get, no uncertainty and let me clarify you why. On the off chance that you need a decent tasting thing and that is your first need at that point get one of those Wendy’s or McDonalds’ shakes. That is to say, is that basic. Try not to be so meticulous about the taste when you are expending a Protein Shake. The business has propelled a ton throughout the years and the powders show signs of improvement and better with the time, so quit crying.
Presently, on the off chance that regardless you are into that taste and everything else comes next, at that point search for another item that has more immersed fat, more sugar, more straightforward carbs, less protein per scoop (not exactly the great .79 oz of Protein for every oz of powder, a hollering 79%) and that isn’t 100% whey.
Try not to misunderstand me, despite everything I think this powder tastes extraordinary, it’s simply not THE best taste out there (but rather who knows, possibly for you it is) yet the advantages beat that. I have attempted the twofold rich chocolate, the vanilla flavor, the strawberry season and the treats and cream. They all taste great to me, particularly on the off chance that you know how to set them up.
The measure of calories marginally from flavor to season (close to 10 calories for each scoop) however we should take for instance, the twofold rich chocolate. 1 scoop has 120 calories, 10 from fat, a base measure of carbs and 24 grams of Whey protein. In the event that you don’t have the foggiest idea, Whey protein is the most regarded sort of protein there is (with the white egg protein) since your body utilizes it altogether, dissimilar to different kinds of protein that may move toward becoming muscle versus fat if there’s insufficient physical action.
The cost is amazing as well. Regardless of whether you are a weight lifter, jock, some individual that needs to develop muscles or possibly some person on an eating routine to kill that midsection, you know how costly sustenance can be amid the month. A Shake after exercise there, a bar over yonder, entire wheat bread, natural products, and so forth. In the event that spending additional cash doesn’t influence that is fine yet in the event that you once in a while need to deal with your own spending then the value gives you another motivation to pick 100% Whey.

So I am obsessed with trying different types of protein and I buy like 2-3 a month to try, if I don’t like I send it back. But I found my holy grail, and it’s the banana cream! It taste just like the banana Laffy taffy as someone else commented. It’s so good. I can drink it all day. In fact it’s the highlight of my day. Tastes more like a treat than a burden! I’m done with the protein search, I found it. I mix mine with silk protein milk for extra protein. I’m in Love!

I bought the Vanilla Ice Cream flavored OPTIMUM NUTRITION GOLD STANDARD whey powder. Want to make a great banana shake?
First, pour one cup (8 oz.) of non-fat milk (it has to be non-fat) in a blender. Add one banana and one scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream flavor OPTIMUM NUTRITION GOLD STANDARD 100% Whey Protein Powder . Then add about four ice cubes.
I like to blend this mixture for about 1 minute to 1 1/2 minutes depending on how silky smooth you want it. Believe me, the resulting blend will taste just like a smooth, thick and velvety banana shake!
By the way, this is a great way to utilize those over ripe bananas that you have in the kitchen. They can be almost black….no matter. They will make a excellent shake.

All I have to say is homemade chunky monkey ice cream ? With the addition of 2 frozen bananas, almond milk, and chocolate chips this tastes exactly like chunky monkey! That being said, the banana flavor is amazing with just almond milk. It blends very well especially with the blender bottle. This is one of my favorite flavors, I would recommend it to everyone.
The best feature of this brand is it is NCAA approved meaning there are no banned substances in this product. There are only top quality ingredients which is why some people don’t see results after using other products (a lot of other brands aren’t banned substance tested). Hands down, favorite brand all around.

I see a lot of reviews on here of people complaining how they’ve used this specific brand for 50 years and all of a sudden it changes and now its no good to them. Im new to this brand and to ease some others about the skeptical view of other reviews on here, i think it tastes fine. Some say its too sweet. Well you should check the ingredients first or dont expect vanilla ice cream flavor to not taste sweet.. I got vanilla and thats exactly what it tastes like. Take a tub of vanilla ice cream and melt it and drink it. This taste better than most powders ive tried and if it doesnt taste that great to you, toughen up princess. No one cares if it taste good. we are using PROTEIN powder… FOR PROTEIN.

My first time ever to use a whey protein supplement. I never used anything like this before because oftentimes they taste yucky, chalky. But this one? Oh, SO YUMMY! I first mixed it with strawberries, blueberrries, banans, chopped almonds, ice cubes, almond milk and water. Oh so good! Then next with just banana. So good! Then I tried it without fruits but just almonds, almond milk, ice and water, oh so good! Lol. I sometimes add in my dairy free and sugar-free Silk dark chocolate yogurt. I like it super cold, so I prepare it in advance, put in the fridge, and just give it a little shake just before drinking. It’s creamy and filling, doesn’t make me crave anything sugary (it helps cos I started cutting down on my sugar intake). I drink it in the morning with my oatmeal, before I work out or run or simple exercise, and then after.
Can’t wait to try other flavors next time!

My husband and I really like this protein. We have tried several others and the taste is always a little off and for that reason alone we wanted to try this one. But! Even better, I am a breastfeeding Mama and found the ingredients in this protein to be superior and safe for my baby. So far, all is going great. I’m noticing results and it hasn’t had any negative impact on my breast milk for my baby. I would highly recommend this protein to men and women. Also, the size is great especially if you’re sharing with someone else like we are!

To start off, I’ve been working out (lifting) for the better part of 6 years. I almost decided to pass on this brand because I remember seeing a bunch of people in the reviews saying that a new ingredient was recently added, making it taste odd. I decided to risk it and purchased the banana cream flavor over a month ago. I do not regret my decision one bit. Some of the other flavors may taste funky (I wouldn’t know because I’ve only tried the banana cream), but this one is BY FAR the best tasting protein powder I’ve ever had. In my past experience, I’ve found that most powders taste mediocre but have a subtle, sometimes more than subtle, bitter aftertaste. This banana cream literally tastes like a piece of banana candy that you would buy at a candy shop. No bad aftertaste and it mixes extremely well in your drink. You will still see some tiny pieces that won’t mix all the way, but it’s miniscule compared to practically every other protein powder I’ve tried. And most important of all, it works. I have seen some great growth in the past month. I can’t speak for other flavors, but banana cream is the truth.

Protein is expensive this 5lber could cost you 70 dollars at GNC for 63 cents a scoop on Amazon, thats hard to beat. I love coffee and when I have this pre workout I think my body has a placebo effect and thinks it’s on caffeine, so my pump gets really fired up. All I can say is ..I wont get tired of it and with unsweetened almond coconut milk or water it taste delicious; faster to drink with water. Keep doing ya thing ON and amazon I’ll be able to turn into a God with these prices and flavors.

First of all, I noticed the canister was almost full to the top with product. You cant even get a bag of chips that full anymore. The canister is also huge. Much bigger than my more expensive protien that only came half full. So right off I was impressed. I got the Vanilla Ice Cream and it smelled heavenly. I wasn’t sure how good it would taste, but upon mixing it with unsweetened Almond Milk was pleasantly surprised. I had no issues with it mixing. I really bought this to bake with and also have been happy with those results. I have bought the ON brand before (chocolate) and really liked it as well. I highly recommend this product.
