There’s a lot to like about xylitol. This naturally occurring sugar alcohol is one of the healthiest and most unique sweeteners you’ll find. Unlike sugars such as sucrose and fructose, NOW Real Food Xylitol is a sugar alcohol, which doesn’t promote tooth decay. Even though it’s classified as a carbohydrate, it has a low glycemic impact due to its slow absorption in the digestive tract, and its caloric impact is around 1/3 lower than other carbohydrates, making xylitol a healthy sweetener that’s hard to beat.
Because you are what you eat, NOW Real Food has been committed to providing delicious, healthy, natural foods since 1968. We’re independently, family owned, and proud of it. Keep it natural. Keep in real.

I needed to replace sugar in my diet and this was recommended. I was skeptical because other sweeteners
just left an aftertaste in my mouth and a craving for sugar. I was pleasantly surprised by this option.
While it isn’t as fine as sugar, it is equal to sugar. You can measure it exactly like sugar, no need for conversion charts and it does not have a bad taste or aftertaste. It tastes like sugar in everything I’ve used it in/on. I’m glad I found this.

I really like what this product is doing for my teeth. I have discoloration on my teeth. They are pretty decent but I want a healthier smile and fresh breath. I searched online and youtube and found this remedy. It is working so I will share it with you in hopes that it helps someone. First off it’s all natural products. These products are supposed to also kill Gum Disease! that’s right you read it right Gum Disease!
3 spoonfuls of Baking Soda
1 Tablespoon of Neem Powder
3 Tablespoon of Extra Virgin Coconut oil
1 Tablespoon of Xylitol
and 15 Drops of MInt Essential oil or Peppermint oil
Mix in a plastic container or glass jar and store it the same as regular toothpaste. Use this 3 times a day and watch your teeth brighten and whiten. Watch Gum Disease go away. I will say that brushing your teeth with a soft or medium toothbrush should do the trick. If your gums are sensitive brush a little longer than 2 minutes. the bleeding will stop. Also get a waterpik flosser it helps. Hope this helps someone.

It’s quite good, but careful because a little goes a long way! I use demerara sugar most of the times, you need less than this for the same sweetness. It doesn’t have a weird aftertaste like erytritol but it has this kinda refreshing aftertaste… a little weird for me but not a big issue. It does mess up my digestive system (I don’t use too much at all, basically just for recipes), so I have to really watch it.

I make our own toothpaste, and this natural sweetener not only makes it taste better, but actually has benefits to the teeth! Xylitol starves the bad bacteria in the mouth and has great benefits for Dental Health. The bacteria called “Streptococcus mutant is mostly responsible for plaque. This bacteria feeds on glucose from food, but they cannot us xylitol. So using this sweetener actually helps decrease the plaque build-up on the teeth! And when oral bacteria ingests xylitol, its energy producing pathway is clogged and it ends up dying! Xylitol also increases calcium absorption which is good for your teeth and may protect against osteoporosis. It also increases the production of saliva, which helps remineralize the teeth. So all in all, my all-natural toothpaste has benefitted greatly by tasting better as it works better with Xylitol!

This is one of those products you can’t live without. If you’re done with table sugar and it’s nasty effects you have options. This stuff is exactly like sugar with no negative effects. It is my go to sweetener for everything I used to use sugar for. I like it even better than Stevia, which never tasted all that good anyway, to be honest. This is delicious and looks, feels, acts and behaves exactly like sugar. I can’t recommend it enough.

This is the only thing that tastes like sugar and my mind is blown! Day one I used it in my coffee and couldn’t tell it wasn’t real sugar because it tasted the same. No stomach distress so I figured I’m golden because I only use it in my coffee or tea. Day two I put it in my coffee again and it tasted great. A few hours later there was a blow out like no other several times that day and my stomach wasn’t happy. I hear if you keep using it that you’ll crap your brains out for 2 weeks but eventually you’ll adjust. Not sure if I can handle that. But again, the taste it spot on sugar!!

Thankfully, this is pure xylitol, unlike the brand “Ideal Xylitol” that I unhappily discovered was actually a Xylitol blend with maltodextrin and sucralose. It tastes pretty much identical to sugar to me, and can be substituted 1 for 1 in everything from a cup of tea to a batch of oatmeal cookies. There’s no aftertaste, and no unpleasant “cold-mouth” effect either.
But beware! If you consume a significant amount—lets say maybe 8+ teaspoons, you might have some stomach distress (rapid bloating etc.) If anything its a good incentive to monitor your intake mindfully.

Looking for something that tastes like sugar, but isn’t. No More Aspartame for me. I think I’ve done some damage?? Anyway…tastes much like sugar, spoons like sugar, low calorie, not no-calorie!!
Oh Gosh! UPDATE!!!
Truth be told, I used it once or twice, then put it away, and continued with my Stevia.
Just today…I pulled it out to put in my morning beverage.
I am a Sugar Head, but….the first thing I noticed was that it was too sweet, even for me!
1/2 hour later, and several times throughout the day….the Xylitol rendered Unfavorable results, so much so…that I dumped All of it…down the garbage disposal.
Back to the Stevia! If I know what’s good for me!!!
Maybe, it will not have the same effect on you????? Good luck!!

Love this product and this brand. We have been using this for years and couldn’t be happier with a sugar substitute. The benefits that this product delivers is so much healthier better for are physical health than any sugar substitute out there. There is no aftertaste that is the one of the most important things for me in a sugar substitute. As long as they make this friend I will always purchase this the price what it’s great also.

This has a much much MUCH better flavor than many of the other alternative sweeteners I’ve tried, most notably stevia. There is still a slight aftertaste I’m not a huge fan of, but that may also change with time just like I never used to enjoy the taste of diet pop. I will say the bag is pretty sturdy but the sealing aspect gives way after a while of opening and closing since I don’t use a lot at once. Obviously, nothing I use this in is dog friendly so no more scraps for my little Harley girl…probably a good thing in my house. Haha
Lemming –
Totally better than anything Stevia, no or very little aftertaste, fresh sweet taste, works well as a substitute, though in my very amateur experience does not bake as well as sugar. However, after using it in my coffee and tea every day for a couple weeks, it upset my stomach and caused some digestive inconvenience, which quickly resolved once discontinued. Also note the cautions, that this product causes severe illness in pets.
BanDeclawing –
Most importantly…NOT SAFE FOR DOGS! It can and has killed dogs! I wouldn’t give it to any pet! It IS safe for humans because we process it differently, dogs can’t. PLEASE make sure you keep any baked goods or foods made with it away from pets!
I have to watch my sugar, so I use it. I’m allergic to artificial sweeteners. This is not artificial. It’s completely natural, made from corn. I have been using this for years and I like it. It tastes exactly like sugar to me. It has one third the calories of regular sugar and a low glycemic index. Now Foods makes great organic products.

we use it to make our own toothpaste along with baking soda, coconut oil and bentonite clay, it will get rid off all plaque and leave the teeth super clean and better than using the toothpaste from the store.
in this was we know exactly what goes into the tooth paste!
Oh! I also add mint oil in order to the the fresh taste!
Cheers to health!

I like Xylitol. It is easy to know how much to add because it is proportional to sugar. It isn’t like stevia where a little bit is equivalent to a lot of sugar. Yes, it is not as low in calories as stevia and some other sweeteners, but one has to compromise somewhere. It doesn’t have a strange aftertaste. If you taste it as it is, it has a bit of a strange sensation to it (like mint makes your tongue FEEL), but it isn’t bad. Be careful not to have too much in one go. It does have a slight laxative effect. I used it in a cocktail mix and it was fine, but I was careful not to drink too many drinks, just in case.

When it comes artificial sweeteners, I’ve tried almost all of them. Every single one of them has ended up being given away because it just don’t taste good. This has not been the case with xylitol. Xylitol tastes just look sugar. It can be used exactly like sugar. It is as sweet as sugar. And while it is not zero-calorie, it is still lower in calories than table sugar (10 vs 16 per teaspoon for sugar) and has a lower glycemic index than sugar (12 vs 65 for sugar). If you are looking to cut calories or have a medical need for a lower glycemic index sweetener, xylitol may be just what you need.
Padme –
Decent sugar replacement for your morning tea or coffee. You can definitely tell it’s not sugar, but it is the only replacement I’ve found to be tolerable. I use the same amount of xylitol as I do sugar. Be warned, too much can cause diarrhea. For me that’s 2-3 cups of xylitol sweetend tea, so not much.
