Really enjoy this healthy sweetener! To me it tastes MUCH better than stevia. Now I can get rid of the coconut palm sugar, the stevia, the agave nectar, etc., etc. and save cupboard space. It’s worth the bit of extra $$, especially since it lasts a long time. I’m not a fan of plastic packaging, so whenever a new bottle arrives, I transfer it to a blue glass dropper bottle–much easier to control the amount of drops. Keto lovers and diabetics, rejoice!

It taste good and have no after taste but you need to use way too much to get it sweet enough at with my coffee and lemon juice. I use stevia from NOW food and 2 grams is sweeter than 20 drops of this extract which makes me think it isn’t concentrated enough.

This is an excellent product; I use the Julian Bakery organic Monk Fruit powder as well. Perfect in smoothies, gelatin and teas without the chemicals and calories of sugar. Tastes great. I don’t bake so cannot vouch for its use there. Try it.

    Amazon Customer – February 19, 2021

I think, 1st things 1st, NO, it does not taste exactly like sugar, but that’s because it’s not sugar! Most artificial sweeteners are created to match sugar, this is NOT trying to match sugar. So, with that in mind, I do like the Monk Fruit. It has a sweetness that makes my coffee sort of creamy w/lite vanillay flavor. It makes my black coffee seem smooth and sweet, and my creamed coffee sweet &a bit creamier. I do have pure monk fruit extract, as well, and I think the cane alcohol added to the monk fruit in this product helps dilute the sweetness of the monk fruit, and balances the sweetness since Monk fruit alone is EXTREMELY sweet. There’s NO after taste. I look only at European studies on new items for consumption and Monk Fruit Extract (not anything that is overly processed) is safe and well received. Cane alcohol is also very common for sweetener. I didn’t give it a 5 star just ’cause you need to really fool with the drops in the coffee to get it exactly right, too much and you’ll have to throw the coffee out and start over. I do love that China has used monk fruit for 1,000s of years as a sweetener and hollistic medicine.

I think some of the mixed reviews depend on your personal preference. I ordered with an open mind. Sure it’s not sugar sweet, but it’s NOT sugar. 5 to 6 drops in my coffee provide a nice sweet flavor that isn’t bitter or overpowering.

    RC – February 19, 2021

This sweetener contains just 3 ingredients: Deionized water, organic monk fruit extract, 1% organic cane alcohol. That’s all. At $ 9. 50 for a 2 oz bottle, it’s pricey but well worth it. It has 0 carbs, works in hot or cold liquids & it’s a great sub for the coconut palm sugar I used to use before going Keto. Swerve (a supposedly “natural” no-carb sweetener) & all the powdered monkfruit extract products I’ve found online all contain Erythritol, which gives me the runs. So this has been a godsend. (It even works in cocktails!) I made chocolate mousse for 4 people 2 days ago using nothing but Aroy-D coconut cream, cacoa powder, a few drops of coffee bean essential oil & this liquid monkfruit sweetener. It got rave reviews & everyone was shocked to learn that it was 100% natural & sugar free. So those of you on a mission for a 0 carb, sugar-free sweetener made from natural ingredients, THIS is is what you’ve been looking for! Just be prepared to spend a bit more $$ than usual to get what you want.

    K M – February 19, 2021

This product is awesome. Barely any aftertaste in my opinion (unless you use too much then there’s a slight plant-like taste but it’s not bad at all). Not only is monk fruit really good for you, but I love the concentrated drops. And the bottle works perfectly to barely pour it drop by drop, unlike some other bottles that give you no control over how much comes out at a time. For how much product actually comes in this bottle, it will last me months! Great price for such an awesome product. I’m completely satisfied with it and will be buying more when I run out.

    P. M. Johnson – February 19, 2021

I was disappointed after reading the reviews and ordering this. It takes more drops than Stevia to make it as sweet for me. This is the first time I’ve tried Monk Fruit, so perhaps this is the nature of the product? Or is it just this brand? I will not order this again.

I was wondering what this would taste like as I’m EXTREMELY picky… and I was pleasantly surprised! No bitter aftertaste or funkiness like one gets with many no calorie, no carb sweeteners. I did have to use a bit more than it said on the label to get the level of sweetness desired, but that’s ok. I don’t mind considering there’s no caloric or carb value to add up! Also, it arrived much earlier than expected, so that was a plus as well. I refuse to use those toxic artificial sweeteners and if I decide to use something, this will be it. I’ve been that “unsweetened” person for ages now… and I’m happy to finally have a choice!

This has been life changing for me. My friend mentioned monk fruit and I decided to give it a try. A couple of drops in sugar free chocolate spread and it’s good! Or I use a couple of drops in my sugar free cereal and it tastes good. You don’t need more than 2 drops. It really is powerful and fill your sweet tooth cravings. Highly recommend for people who are watching their sugar intake. I did a lot of research on sugar substitutes and wanted to educate myself on all the different options and this for me, by far, is the best one and healthiest one.

I have tried several other brands and this by far the best liquid monk fruit sweetener out there for both taste and price. Other brand sweeteners I always find myself using more, they have an off taste and are pricier. NOW brands monk fruit I only need 2-3 drops in my morning coffee and I’m good to go!

    Gelys Mar – February 19, 2021

I did not like the favor at all. The reason I choosed monkfruit and not stevia is because I do not like that tart flavor, but sadly it is the case. Monkfruit is suppose to taste more similar to sugar and I do not like the most artificial sweeteners (like Splenda). I bought this one because I liked so much not liquid monk fruit and wanted try liquid one but I really got disappointed.

    Kelli Reeves – February 19, 2021

I only like it. I don’t hate it. I guess the benefits outweighs the real sugar taste. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice sweet flavor. It doesn’t have that cold minty after taste like after stevia or xylitol. However, because it has alcohol in it, so it does leave a slightly strong bitter aftertaste. It’s not that bad if you are not used to the smooth sweetness of sugar or honey. A little goes a long way. I used only 4 drops in a tall cup of coffee. I had to add 2 teaspoons of cane sugar to get it to my liking. My purpose of using Monk Fruit is to cut down my daily sugar intake , so it serves its purpose.

This is the best sweetener I’ve ever come across. This is best for sweetening beverages or anything (besides baking) that needs a bit of sweetening. The only reason baking doesn’t work is because of volumes. I have used this also to sweeten a jar of no sugar peanut butter and it worked great!

    JKN – February 19, 2021

To tell you the truth, I don’t like the taste of stevia sweeteners. This monk fruit supplement is way better tasting. It doesn’t alter my cooking flavors as much as stevia does.

    Pros:

    1) No leak bottle

    2) Hold up well in room temperature

    3) Decent taste

    4) Colorless

    5) Tastes better than stevia (in my opinion)

    Cons:

    1) Not the exact same flavor as real sugar

    Cat Patrick – February 19, 2021

I have always hated sweeteners that weren’t sugar. Stevia, Pyure and other sweeteners were impossible for me to use due to the aftertaste. Monkfruit has been my saving grace. I use the monkfruit/erythritol blends in sugar free/keto baking and this liquid in my drinks. This liquid has no aftertaste. I prefer it over the Lakanto liquid, though I love the Lakanto monkfruit/erythritol blends for baking. Every now and then you get a bottle of the Now liquid monkfruit that is incredibly sweet, only a drop or two needed to sweeten a 32 ounce tumbler of tea, so the quality does vary from bottle to bottle, but this is my go to sweetener for drinks. Every new bottle is an adventure in determining how much of it you’ll need to use. I recommend putting it in a bottle with a dropper, makes it much easier to dispense. If you don’t have a dropper bottle, flip open the cap on the Now and use a small skewer or a pin to poke a hole in the safety seal. Much easier to dispense small amounts that way.

    R – February 19, 2021

I bought this with the intention to use it my coffee during keto, but ended up only using it for mixed drinks because, in coffee, I felt like I could taste the alcohol. But obviously that’s not as much of a problem in actual alcoholic drinks. I still haven’t found a good natural sugar substitute for coffee (I think I’ve given up and either take it without or with just a tiny bit of real sugar to de-bitter it). Would I use this if I wasn’t doing keto? Eh, maybe. It’s not as good as real simple syrup, but I think it’s the best one I’ve had so far. Wayyy better than stevia drops. Ew.

    Dawn in Ohio – February 19, 2021

Product was delivered in 2 days, packed in a bubble envelope. It’s was safety sealed as well as having a seal on top of bottle.

I have used every artificial sweetener made in every way possible, this is my first experience tasting Monk fruit. I usually use 2 pkts of dry, 10 drops of liquid debittered stevia. I used 10 drops in a mug of hot chamomile tea. It was equally as sweet as the portions of the other, and it is easy to use and count drops.

I didn’t notice an after taste. However, I have been using artificial sweeteners for 20 years so I can’t speak for someone that isn’t accustomed to them. I have had experiences with the liquids of other types being bitter, especially a few brands of stevia.

I will repurchase based on the product quality, and the quantity is twice the amount of the stevia I buy on Amazon, making it cheaper per ounce.

    PSUCalculator – February 19, 2021

I’ve been ordering it from Amazon for awhile now and it’s my Go To sweeter of choice for baking/coffee. You can find this particular brand at Sprouts, but the it’ll cost you $4 more. As a provider, I advice those with Diabetes to stay away from all sweeteners, including artificial ones because they do cause a spike in BG just like a regular sugar. However, I also understand that this change in eating behavior is too drastic and not realistic for many. Thus, if you are to have a little bit of sweetener in your coffee/tee, 100% PURE MONK FRUIT is the way to go. It does raise your BG but not as much as Stevia, Splenda or others. Partially, I think it’s because it’s not as sweet, minimally processed, and the raw fruit itself is not sweet. However, when you ingest it (raw or liquid), your taste buds ‘read it’ as sweet; whereas, a raw Stevia leaf is super sweet to begin with. Additionally, unlike Stevia, Monk Fruit extract does not have bitter aftertaste or cause GI distress.

    LGraham – February 20, 2021

Over the years, I have used natural sweeteners such as agave and coconut sugar, but only in the last year or so, I wanted to reduce my sugar amount and use natural sweetener alternatives like stevia and lo han. I’ve tried both, and I prefer the lo han slightly more.

This liquid lo han is perfect for sweetening tea/beverages and in my baked goods such as cookies and bars. I use just 1-2 drops per glass of tea, and my toddler loves the sweetness. I use this in my recipes in combination with some coconut sugar and agave, but with this lo han I am able to reduce the total sugar amount. I also purchase the Lakanto monk fruit sugar replacement for my baked goods.

    Love the flavor and price.

    PSP – February 20, 2021

I was really hoping…but, there IS an aftertaste. It is an unpleasant bitterness that ruins whatever I add it to. Part of the issue is, in order for me to taste the sweetness, I need A LOT. Even after cleansing my palate, which I do on a regular basis, I have a hard time tasting sweet…so, therein lies the issue. If a couple drops does it for you, this may be the dream sweetener you’ve been looking for. Unfortunately for me, it’s a no go.

    PharmDMom – February 20, 2021

I bought this product and another Monk Fruit juice. The other I bought, I’d use 6-7 drops in my 32-oz glass of unsweetened tea and it’s perfect. With this one, I only have to use 4 drops, but if you accidentally use too many drops the sweetness is overpowering, which I’m not fond of. I like the other brand I bought better, but would still recommend this brand for those trying the KETO diet.

    S. Voisin – February 20, 2021

I’ve tried a few of the liquid monkfruit sweeteners, and this is by far the best. The one with Zero in the title had a dropper top that got crusty with residue. Now Foods brand uses a flip top that closes easily and securely with no residue. The flavor is great, though I like my tea really sweet so I use a bit more than they estimate. The price goes up and down, so I try to catch it when it’s down and buy in bulk.

    bpositive – February 20, 2021

Very slight aftertaste, but not as bad as Lakanto brand monk fruit drops. Does not taste exactly like cane sugar, but is pretty darn close. Great in breakfast cereal, tea and coffee. Going to try baking some muffins with it next. If you’re trying to cut down on sugar (whatever the reason), this will surely help you. And at almost 300 servings per $7 bottle, it’s a great value that should last you a very long time. I put 8 drops in my breakfast cereal to replace 1.5 to 2 teaspoons of sugar. Clean, minimal ingredients. Love that it’s organic.

    Angela MA. – February 20, 2021

First off I want to reiterate what another reviewer mentioned…. that this is a sugar-free, carb-free sweetener, that will add A sweetness to whatever you put it in, but it will NOT replace the taste of actual sugar. Sugar is sugar….and since it can be so damaging to our health, can you imagine how rich any person or company would be if they could make a product that was completely sugar-free, but tasted IDENTICAL to sugar?! Such a product would probably be rated as the top selling item on Amazon, and I’d no doubt be stocking up on it myself! I’m not trying to be facetious or anything, just honest. Some people know this, and are just looking for a possible alternative to the various other sugar-free sweeteners out there, but I think some folks actually misunderstand the positive reviews and think they are ordering something that will replace sugar, but taste JUST like sugar. If that is what you are looking for, this item probably……ok ok, definitely, won’t work for you. However, if you are looking for a natural alternative to aspartame or sucrulose, or something else besides stevia or xylitol (or other sugar alcohols like xylitol, such as erythritol), then this may be a good option for you to try. As for me, I’ve tried them all! It does come down to personal taste, and what you like (or don’t like) mixed in with your sweetener. I don’t mind stevia, and have used it, but I find that I like the taste of monk fruit sweeteners more (I’ve never had the chance to try any actual monk fruit). One of the few monk fruit brands that can be found at some stores is the Lakanto brand. It is mixed heavily with the sugar alcohol erythritol though (many stevia brands also include erythritol in their ingredients- either erythritol or dextrose). Erythritol is completely carb-free (unlike dextrose), but some people can have digestive sensitivities to sugar alcohols, or find that they have their own aftertaste like stevia does. This NOW brand of liquid monk fruit is, to me, the best of any non-sugar sweeteners I’ve tried, and I like that it doesn’t have any artificial preservatives, sugar alcohols or dextrose added to it. As a side note, “sugar alcohols” are oddly named, they do not contain any ethanol, and can be found in some fruits and vegetables. Ok, back to the review. I’ve used Monk Fruit in the Raw in the past. It comes in packet form….and it took MUCH more product to sweeten something than even these drops do (as compared to, say, stevia packets). So, that part MAY be related to the Monk Fruit, but when you look up the price of other of monk fruit products, this isn’t that cost prohibitive in comparison (again, in my opinion- the only thing more personal than taste is people’s view of money ;-)). I’m on my 3rd bottle of it, and I started the first bottle the 1st of February of this year, 2019, and tomorrow is June 1. I also have to use a bit more than what is suggested on the bottle to get the level of sweetness I want. But the bottle does allow you to control the drops MUCH better than many other bottles used for these types of sweeteners. I hope this helps. I know I’m always leery of trying something new (because it’s no fun wasting money), and often read the reviews to see if anything is posted that maybe useful in my decision making. It’s unfortunate companies don’t give out small test samples like they used to do in the days of my youth (or so I seem to remember anyway, lol!) 😉

    CallMeChaz – February 20, 2021

TASTE–typical of good quality monk-fruit powders. No bitter taste (unless overused), no aftertaste.

STRENGTH–not sure about other liquid monk fruit products, but this one takes about 4 or 5 drops to lightly sweeten a full cup of coffee. Seems as though it could be a bit more concentrated. I only use it outside of my home, so economy-wise it’s not a big deal. Which brings me to why I REALLY like it!

NO REFRIGERATION–which means I can take it to restaurants and bars to sweeten my drinks. Very convenient. Would not want to be fiddling with monk fruit powder and tiny spoons outside of my kitchen, so this is most convenient.

If you are not familiar with monk fruit sweeteners, there are a few things you should know. They are all-natural: a concentrate of the anti-oxidants extracted from an Asian melon. That makes it the only sweetener I know of that is actually a HEALTHY ADDITION to your diet.

Most other sweeteners have a disagreeable taste to at least half the users. Many have a lingering aftertaste. This seems to be the exception for most people who try it. The secret is not to overuse it. Twice as much will not make it twice as sweet: it can make it bitter. Start off with very little and work your way to the taste you like.

Finally, it does not cause ANY gastrointestinal discomfort. That is a big plus for people like me who use it all day long (coffee, smoothies, flavored soda-water, even mixed-drink cocktails!)

It tastes fine if you don’t mind artificial sweeteners and I had been using this daily with my Ayurvedic diet for a few days until I developed an itchy red rash on my face and ears that lasted a over a week. Once the rash disappeared, I tried it once again just to make sure it was the monkfruit and I immediately got a hot sensation and facial hives. I do not have any other food allergies so this was a crazy thing to experience, however I tend to have skin sensitivities often from chemicals in face creams and makeup. I am not knocking this product/brand specifically because it was only my reaction to it but I recommend that you use it with caution if you have any skin sensitivities or allergies.

Great quality. It’s my go to alternative/natural sweetener. On my 3rd bottle now and the quality has been consistent. It’s sweet with no ofter taste, and you only need a little, so the bottle will last a long time. It’s much cheaper on Amazon, compared to my local health food store. This has become a staple in my kitchen, especially for my morning coffee. You won’t be disappointed!

Fantastic monk fruit, great ingredients . . . even though it’s more expensive per use, we plan to skip Julian Bakery’s powder from now on and just use these drops.

Now Foods, if you’re reading this, would you consider making bottles that are maybe 4x–8x larger than this, so people could buy this at a cheaper price$ per oz.? That would make life so much better!

Everybody else, I think you’ll like these! The fruity flavor is best for most recipes (especially baking & smoothies) vs. stevia drops (more herbal/basil/holy-basil-y).

I really feel I do have a sensitive palette and was looking forward to trying this as a healthier alternative sweetener. I was admittedly disappointed to discover it does have an aftertaste, regardless of what I am sweetening, that is unpleasant to me. In truth it was much like Stevia, which I don’t like. I would’ve loved for it to work for me, and I wish I could give better feedback. I am however glad other people have found it more pleasing than me.

Replacing sugar, Monk Fruit liquid is a good product. Tastes fine. This is the second time I am buying this brand.

I was getting xylitol crystals, but xylitol can be expensive and does not last as long before I need to repurchase. Be sure to shake out the drops and not squeeze the bottle when using this. I have found no aftertaste when using this in coffee, tea, and other drinks, such as homemade lemonade.

Update: I want to add to this recommendation. I tried a couple of other monk fruit drops, and they were not sweet enough. In fact, I had to use double the amount of drops per cup of coffee, for example. One bottle did not even last two weeks. I am not buying any other kind. The reason I got the second kind was because it could be shipped “Prime.” If I have to wait for these, then I will wait! 🙂

This liquid monk fruit is so much better tasting than the Stevia drops I was using, really there’s no comparison to how much better it makes my tea taste. I use about 6 – 8 drops depending on how big of a mug I use for the tea. Tastes very close to sugar, will definitely keep using it.

NOTE: The bottle says to SHAKE it very well before using. It’s possible that the people who didn’t like the taste are maybe not shaking the bottle and that’s the problem.
