Magnesium (Mg) is an essential mineral best known for its role in bone and nervous system function. Recent research has demonstrated that it is also critical for normal brain health and normal cognitive function by maintaining the density and stability of neuronal synapses. However, most forms of Mg are not easily absorbed into the nervous system. Magtein is a patented form of Mg that readily crosses the blood-brain barrier for utilization in the brain. Laboratory studies indicate that Magtein supports brain health and may facilitate learning and memory, as well as a relaxed mood.

Ever since I was diagnosed with inattentive ADHD in 2007 the standard medication for the condition has helped a lot with improved focus but left me with a lot of fatigue also. Lack of meaningful REM.
About 20 days ago I stated taking magnesium L-threonate. NOW Magtein, 90 Veg Capsules was the lowest priced I could find. I doubt that the higher priced ones are any different. The company that licenses Magtein can’t allow the formula to vary brand to brand.
I did some research and found many articles that suggested 500mg 3 times a day. 1 at mid-day and 2 an hour before sleep. Help with sleep is one of it’s claims to fame. Who am I to argue? REM is my issue but becoming unconscious has not been a problem for a while. I was wide awake till 3 AM! After about 3 hours I was wide awake again. But I didn’t feel any tiredness or fatigue all day. Or the next day. After a few days I saw other lack of sleep issues creep in. Remembering names and certain words became difficult. Diving in; to figure out something even a little complex just wasn’t happening. A different thing from focus, that has been great.
Probably just my metabolism but it seems that a little trial and error to find what works best for me was called for. I backed off and had one capsule with morning meds. One at around 2 PM. The third at around 6 or 8. But I had the same problem. Up till 3 am and then 3 hours of sleep. Currently one cap first thing. If I have things to do, another in the afternoon.
Going with the adage “the smallest effective dose is the most effective dose” for now.
I have noticed another effect or side effect that I haven’t found many articles about. With increased neural activity I am more aggressive. Less Libido at the same time. Not a good combination for a single guy at any age. It hasn’t been a problem so far but I am doing things that are unusual for me. e.g. Talking too much in social situations when I am usually quiet. Catty and gossipy when I don’t really approve of that in others. Something to take up with the counselor I guess. The results may prove to be good so I’ll hold off judgement.
A couple of days I had headaches so tested my blood pressure. It was a little high. I’ll keep monitoring it.
Mostly I am very pleased to be up and doing things again. Focus and getting things done is good.

I only started taking this a week ago and it’s already changed my life!! Years into decades of insomnia…..cured! I tried everything including benzodiazepines and they didn’t come close to this lifesaver. I take it as directed….one in the afternoon and 2 an hour before bed and boom….when I get up to use the bathroom I can get right back to sleep. It seems to have quieted my racing mind as I gently fall back asleep instead of the decades before where I would feel the racing thoughts. It works!!! My energy level all day now is amazing and I feel 40 again instead of 75. (I’m 64…lol) Thank you Magtein!!

My sister in law recommended this product to me because of some research she was doing regarding ADD and while I can not personally recommend it for that, I noticed a huge difference in the way I function when I am not able to get more than four hours sleep.
If you follow the directions this bottle is a month supply.

I never write reviews, but for this product, I must. Magtein has changed my life. Before I started using it, I had unbearable brain fog, I could not concentrate on my work, and I was so tired by the middle of the afternoon that it was very difficult to finish my work day. The very next day after the night of my first dose, I noticed an immediate difference. I can work all day long at a quick pace like I used to be able to before the brain fog set in so bad. I can concentrate and remember what I am doing, and recall information like normal again. I also have energy all day long that lasts into the evening. I am sleeping better, I certainly fall asleep faster, and I wake up refreshed. There are no unpleasant side effects to Magtein. Magtein is magnesium threonate. Unlike magnesium citrate, Magtein does not have a laxative effect at all. I have been taking it about 2 1/2 weeks.
