Neuro-Mag Magnesium L-Threonate memory & cognitive 90 Vegetarian Capsules – Life Extension
Magnesium is essential for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body and plays an important role in the nervous system and brain.1 Unfortunately, most Americans don’t get enough magnesium from their diet, and suboptimal magnesium levels increase with age.2,3
Not all magnesium supplements are readily absorbed into the central nervous system. But Neuro-Mag® Magnesium L-Threonate is a form of magnesium that has been shown to be better absorbed into the brain.1
Supports healthy memory and cognitive function
In a randomized placebo-controlled trial in 44 adults aged 50-70, the group receiving a daily dose of 1.5 to 2 grams of magnesium L-threonate showed markedly improved cognitive and executive function in just 12 weeks.4
In animal studies, magnesium L-threonate was shown to encourage short and long-term memory and help maintain effective function and quantity of synaptic connections between brain cells.1,5 In preclinical studies, magnesium L-threonate improved the function of signaling pathways necessary for healthy memory.6

I started taking this to treat my fibromyalgia and migraines. It worked amazingly well. However, after a while I started throwing up within an hour of taking the medication. I discontinued it for a while and the nausea went away. The day I started taking it again, the nausea came back. One of the major side effects of excess magnesium is nausea. It can also cause heart arrhythmia.

I’m 72 years old. I have neuropathy from diabetes for the last 6 years. My step-daughter, Stephanie, says a friend of hers uses this to help with her neuropathy. I said, “I’ll give it a try.” I currently was taking 500 mg of a cheap magnesium supplement I buy at local drug stores. I looked on Amazon and found a compound called, “Neuro-Mag®” brand “Magnesium L-Threonate”. I orderd a bottle. 1 months supply. I start taking the 3 pills a day.
They are 144mg of Magnesium L-Threonate in each pill. 500 mg of magnesium is the minimum daily recommended (MDR) requirement to keep a human healthy as listed by the US Government. I’m taking slightly less than the MDR with the 3 pills. Magnesium is a required chemical for the human body. Magnesium enables electrical activity within the body and affects neural (nerve) activity. Neuropathy damages neural activity. Make sense to me. Take for neuropathy.
It’s the afternoon and I’m at Homedepot buying paint. I customer across the paint counter makes a pun on another customers comments. I make a pun off his pun. And then another pun off that pun. And then another pun and then I shut up.
I realize what I have done and think. My brain is racing. It seems as though the left half is making up the puns and right half is speaking them. Simultaneously. I mildly freak-out. “Keep cool, keep cool”. I say nothing, buy the paint and go home. I looked up the stuff I’ve been taking online. I find one and only one entry. A Japanese test study done on old rats a few years back. I read it.
“After 21 days the rats being tested are able to run the maze approximately 20% faster than the control rats.”
I go to Amazon to see when delivery of the magnesium was made. Exactly 22 days ago. I have been taking it for 21 days. My translation: it makes your brain work more efficiently (better). AFTER 21 days of continuous use.
I think of what happened at Homedepot. I felt like Robin Williams. With one half of my brain comin’ up with the jokes and the other half delivering them rapid fire while the first half thought up the next joke. I was truly, “The man with two brains”. I’m going to write a film script with that title.
I look up the intended function of the product. It says, “Enhances Memory and Cognitive Function”. Nothing about neuropathy. The effect on my neuropathy in negligible. Frankly, I get better direct relief from Epsom salt foot soaks.
I looked up in my Amazon order history of when I first started using Neuro-Mag®, Its been about 2 years. I told my new doctor in mid-2018 about Neuro-Mag®. I said to her, “I will never stop taking this product. It works for me.” I asked her to “monitor me.” She said, “I’ve never heard of it.” And agreed to keep watch on me. I am your guinea pig. I alone, am responsible for what it does to me.
I’ve told others about Magnesium L-Threonate. They look at me like I’m from the Mars. I don’t talk about it much now. I realized I’m an oddball. Odd for taking it, odd for talking about it. I did tell Stephanie it works for me. I will tell anybody who asks. “Yes, it works for me.” I’m pretty much a failure at getting others to do what I’m doing. Yeah, it does costs a $1.00 per day. And yes, I will stop taking it when I’m dead. I like my “new” brain. It functions better.

This stuff is wonderful. It contains several different types of magnesium, so I know my body is getting what it needs. Most people are actually deficient in this vitamin, which can cause sleep issues, migraines, cramps, anxiety, etc. Your body can’t absorb the full amount you need each day in 1 big dose, so you have to break it up. As such, I take 1 pill in the AM and 2 in the PM (I take the larger does in the evening to help with sleep).
I’ve recommended this vitamin to several friends with sleep issues, and they now swear by it! TIP: Parents, magnesium is great for helping kids sleep. Since most children won’t take a pill every night, purchase magnesium lotion and rub it on their feet before bed. This vitamin is easily absorbed through skin and works particularly well when applied to the feet.
