Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice (DGL) is a safe and effective licorice extract. It is specially processed to have glycyrrhizin removed to avoid potential side effects such as elevated blood pressure. DGL supports the integrity of the natural mucus lining of the stomach and intestinal wall. It stimulates the protective factors which guard against weaknesses in these linings.

I had a stomach virus for a few days where I felt extremely nauseated and took two of the DGL licorice root extract and it seemed to be the only thing that settled my upset stomach. Highly recommend

I was taking Enzamatic Therapy DGL Ultra with great success and then they took a great product and changed the formula.
It took only for my stomach to go back to severe pain, nausea and heartburn.
After trying other brands of DGL, I tried this one and within days my stomach was once again feeling better.
If you have had gastritis, ulcers, nausea, and heartburn, I highly recommend this product.

This is a good alternative to the Enzymatic Therapy brand since EZ lowered the amount of licorice in their new formula. This tastes decent and works just as well as the old Enzymatic Therapy DGL.

I’ve had acid reflux for years, took a prescription med for a long time but my doctor finally told me to stop. I was fearful because without the med I would get really sick so I looked around for something safe to take, found DGL, asked my doctor about it and he asked me if it’s deglycyrrhizinated, which it is. He OK’d it for me and even though I was doubtful at first, it is helping me. It’s licorice but has a mild flavor. I’m not a doctor so I didn’t take it until my doctor OK’d it for me. He felt it wouldn’t hurt me so trying it would be fine. Always ask the doctor first.

I’ve tried 3-4 different brands of DGL. I like this one because it’s at a good price point, it works to calm my stomach, I really like the taste and no sugar. I have a stomach ulcer and a lot of inflammation that flairs up sometimes. If you’re having a lot of acid reflux &b stomach inflammation, no product will be a cure. You have to pay attention to your diet and cut out the delicious garbage foods that you’re shoving into your face. Take DGL and other suggested products, allow your stomach to heal. Then eat the delicious garbage foods more sparingly.

The flavor is palatable. It’s definitely helps if you like the taste of natural licorice. I prefer a harder chalkier consistency versus the softer chalkiness that gets more mushy, but it’s ok. I just drink water with it to rinse that from my mouth.
Make sure to take it a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes before eating, taking meds that could upset your stomach, or prior lying down, to give it time to work. It definitely works!
A much better alternative than taking Famotidine (Pepcid) that comes with all of the negative side effects including possible liver damage.

Naturopath prescribed licorice to help with acid reflux, but it worsened hypertension. Decided to try this product. The regime that works at night is a couple tablespoons of gel aloe juice in water, with a teaspoon of psyllium husk. After drinking I take the DGL. Been using for a few months and seems to be helping if I also moderate my diet (no caffeine, spicy or fatty foods, etc.). Like the taste, and no increase in hypertension.

So this was interesting.. I got it to assist with gastritis treatment, I do not eat licorice candy and never liked the smell either. I’ve been having it only once a day 30 minutes before lunch. I don’t mind the flavor anymore and do feel like it did helped me tremendously. I no longer have the issues I did before purchasing this, however I also changed my diet to assist my body heal faster. I don’t mind it at all now.

Only brand I use. I have been using it for years. I suffer from all sorts of stomach & intestinal issues. DGL has been life saver for me. Many times using this DGL I have been able to prevent an ER visit. Indigestion take some DGL. Terrible full feeling, take some DGL. You can suck on them, very pleasant. For guick intake I pop them down to powder with my front teeth. I love licorice! For those who don’t, the flavor of these is not sharp or strong, very light and mellow flavor. Happy health to you, be well.

My husband uses these as an anti-acid type of aid. The directions say to take before a meal but he takes them when his stomach is upset. He said this is one of the best things that he has ever used. If you buy this product make sure it’s the 400 mg of the licorice root. There are some that are only 75 mg and 25 mg of some other item and they have extra sugar in them. Get this one with the 400 mg. I just bought two more bottles to stay ahead of the game because quite often things I use all of a sudden aren’t available anywhere and I wanna make sure I have some on hand for him. Highly recommend this product

My Rhuemathologist recommended taking a DGL instead of a PPI (protonix and its likes) to protect stomach while taking harsh NSAIDs( like ibuprofen). It has helped me enormously!!! Licorice is used in Ayurveda to treat sore throat and ulcers, although the ‘glycyrrhizin’ component shoots up BP. This product seems to considerably reduced that acid. Will continue buying! I miss the 180 tablet bottles.

I’m chewing these to help heal an ulcer, and they are WORKING. I’m very happy with this product, and I just eat one 15 minutes before a meal, or even if I just feel a little heartburn coming on. Not bad for you like ulcer/acid reflux medication! They are the best!

I am extremely acid sensitive and have gotten severe burns in my esophagus from eating foods containing certain acids such as citrus which I am very allergic to. The burns are very difficult to treat and slow to heal with traditional methods such as prescribed meds along with a special diet and the condition is extremely painful! Years ago, someone told me to get DGL, I did and it worked!! I have used it ever since. It also is helpful to prevent acid burns from GERD if taken prior to eating. Thankfully, I keep this condition controlled via my diet but recently had a major flare up of esophagitus following a family BBQ potluck. Luckily I had Natural Factors DGL which was a huge help to get me through it. Napa cabbage juice is also very healing for these conditions.

Bought this product because of acid reflex. I like black licorice candy once in a blue moon so i was skeptic about buying this product. I am glad i did. The pills are round and semi soft. They have that black licorice taste, but not as intense as the candy. Doesn’t leave to much after taste in your mouth.
I have only been using this product for a few days so i don’t know how it is working just yet. I will update this review later. Any questions ask.
Michael Bluejay –
I actually like the taste. I don’t know what the other reviewers are going on about. This product is sweetened licorice, which is *exactly* what it tastes like.
Xylitol is proven to reduce cavities, and there’s absolutely no evidence that it relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter, as one other reviewer claimed. You can Google the former to see the voluminous evidence, and the latter to see the complete lack of evidence.

Amazing. I was at my wits end trying to deal with some IBS type symptoms. I had tried everything, and refused to take pharmaceuticals because of the potential side effects.
Within 3 days of taking this 3x day before every meal, my quality of life has improved by 90%.
It is not a placebo effect, because I had believed a number of other natural remedies would help, but they didn’t.
I will be taking this for as long as I need to.

Whether you like the flavor of liquorice or not, this will help you heal an ulcer, chew these before each meal and even in between to help with stomach pain, so very useful without drugs that cause harm

I am 54. Have had heartburn on/off since age 19. Forget Tums, forget all that other over the counter or prescription CRAP that can deplete your body’s nutrients and cause serious problems otherwise.
Licorice folks, that is what these are, clean, chewable, hits my heart burn within 10-20 minutes and lasts. I have been using DGL 7 months straight now, won’t use ANYTHING else other thank baking soda and water, if I run out of DGL.
EXCELLENT product

The anise seed is so mild-tasting, I’m having a hard time understanding how anyone would find the flavor offensive. Even if you don’t love anise seed (think pizelles), the benefits for stomach and intestinal health should more than make up for the taste.
I’m always amazed at how quickly these tablets stop an acid reflux flare-up. It’s like throwing water on a fire. Poof, it’s gone. They also work great for gas and bloating.
Hoosier Mom –
This has proven to soothe my upset stomach as well as help me with healing up an inflamed stomach lining. I was diagnosed with ulcers but ended up allergic to 2 different pharmaceuticals I was given to heal them. I was skeptical about the efficacy of licorice–but it worked for me without side effects. I am not a fan of licorice flavor, but I will tolerate it because of the success I have had with it helping the stomach upset, reflux and ulcers. That being said–still best to be under the care of a physician and discuss the pros and cons of natural products and make sure there will be no interactions with other medications you may be taking.
