Chia Seeds are a functional food with multiple bodily benefits; improved digestion, increased energy and immunity and enhanced cardiovascular fitness.
Add one serving (1 scoop) to your favorite dish or drink for a nutritious boost.
We have the Mesoamerican culture to thank for discovering and cultivating these tiny seeds. Little did they know they developed a superfood for their grateful descendants.
Aztecs and Mayans ate these seeds for sustained energy. The Mayan word “chia” means “strength.” They are one of the healthiest foods on the planet; rich in phytonutrients, antioxidants, essential amino acids and soluble fiber. This macronutrient power is packed into a microsized seed that can absorb 10-12 times its weight in water – something its many fans say makes them feel fuller and eat less.
Almost all of the carbohydrates in Chia Seeds are healthy soluble fiber which feeds friendly bacteria in our intestines, enabling gut flora to perform its critical role in proper digestion. Fiber slows digestion which, experts agree, improves the process. We all know that most of us don’t get nearly the recommended amount of dietary fiber. We can choose Chia Seeds to fortify our fiber needs.
One definition of “superfoods” is “they deliver maximum nutrients with minimum calories.”” Chia truly is a superseed. A single ounce contains: Fiber: 11 grams. Protein: 4 grams. Fat: 9 grams (5 of which are omega-3s). And vitamins and trace minerals!
Chia Seeds are high in quality protein; nearly 20% in each seed. Importantly, they are a complete protein, with all 9 essential amino acids that can’t be made by the body. Chia Seeds are an excellent source of pure plant protein. Cheers for Chia!
Chia Seeds are high in antioxidants that protect their delicate fats from rancidity. Prevalent omega-3 fatty acids demonstrated “potent antioxidant activity” in one study and showed a beneficial effect on cardiovascular health in related research.

From what I’ve read about chia, it’s a whole lot of goodness. This is the first time I’ve bought and tried chia and so I don’t have any idea of what a regular chia size should be. But my expectations from KOS’s label of “powder” is that the powder size would be much closer to what my protein shake “powder” But it is not. This KOS chia “powder” is more like dark fine sand, still very easy to make out tiny granules which to me is not “powder”. And when I mix it with either my morning coffee or with a protein shake, the granules soak up water and mostly sink to the bottom of my cup so I end up with a clump of water soaked chia at the bottom and have to chug it instead of having the chia “powder” blend in with the drink like a powder should do. So again, I’ve never had chia before, but this “powder” size chia certainly does not meet my expectations of what a “powder” should be.

I was afraid that this would be too “powdery,” but when added to coconut milk it absorbed the liquid just the same as the whole seed. Only it was easier to chew and digest. Overall, I am very impressed, and will continue with this brand. As someone who has nut allergies, I appreciate that this is one of very few chia seed distributors that don’t manufacture with nuts.

I’ve been using this for a couple weeks and couldn’t be happier! I add this chia powder every morning to my protein shake of Kos Vanilla protein, Kos Reds, and my creatine powder. This is a great way to get some quick breakfast on my way to the gym. I’ve been looking for chia seeds on amazon for a while and have been scared by all the negative reviews of other brands chia! Seriously, don’t just glance at the star rating, read actual reviews! I’m happy to find that every product I’ve tried from Kos has been high quality and just what I expected. Highly recommend these Chia seeds.

I add chia to all my salads for its taste and nutritional qualities. I have been frustrated by the bags that never stay closed so the seeds are not fresh and tend to spill everywhere. I was delighted by this product’s secure and airtight packaging and amazed by how large it was-real value for money.
