Both my husband and I are big coffee snobs. I bought the dark roast chaga/lion’s mane blend for the hubbs as a treat, despite telling myself I wasn’t going to spend unnecessary money (we’re saving for a big trip). However, the man deserves a treat – he’s amazing. So, he gets up early this morning to brew some and afterward comes into the bedroom to tell me that this is the only coffee he ever wants to drink again. So much for budgeting. It’s worth it, though, since both chaga and lion’s mane are so powerful medicinally.
I’m drinking a cup as I type this, and I’m not a dark roast fan. To my palate, dark roast tastes a little burnt (I brew in a Chemex with 200F pure water). I also have a wonky heart, and a genetic SNP that wonks up my ability to metabolize caffeine, so I typically do half caff anyway. I’m looking forward to trying the medium roast decaf with reishi / chaga. I love Four Sigmatic and what they’re doing, so I’m happy to support. <3

This stuff is changing my life! I am a working mom and I used to drink 4-5 STRONG BIG cups of coffee a day. It wasn’t doing the trick anymore, but I kept drinking that much. I’d get jittery and end up feeling drained. The first day I tried this I was first impressed by the fact that it just tastes like regular coffee. Maybe not my absolute favorite roast, but good regular coffee. But what really bowled me over is that after one cup of coffee (and I made a whole french press), I was done. I felt more energized and alert than I had felt in a really long time. I never did have a second cup of coffee that day.
Fast forward a week and this has continued and even increased. Even on a day when I’d gotten very little sleep and given myself “permission” to have as much regular coffee as I wanted, I didn’t feel the desire after I had one cup of this. Without having so much caffeine, my sleep has been better and I’ve needed less help “coming down” in the evening (i.e. with kava, or a glass of wine or two). I feel like I am getting off of that rollercoaster of lightweight uppers (coffee) and downers (wine in the evening, kava, sleep aid if needed) that I have been on for years. As such, I am feeling more naturally energetic and alert with no effort or issues.
Also, I am not sure if I can totally attribute this to the coffee, but my husband and child both got sick within that week, and I managed to dodge it. That rarely happens for me.
I’ll update this review after I have used this longer but so far I am thrilled with this product. It costs more than my regular coffee, but I am having SO MUCH LESS of it that it kind of works out the same. My husband likes it too. Thank you Four Sigmatic!

I’m on my second bag of Mushroom Coffee and I have to say I am sold.
I’m an herbalism student and recently had a unit on the healing properties of mushrooms and thought immediately remembered hearing about Four Sigmatic from Instagram and decided to buy a bag. I must admit at first I was nervous, not knowing what to expect taste wise, but was pleasantly surprised. To me it’s the same coffee taste, but slightly earthier.
I will continue to buy this as I feel it has a slight calming effect and does help me focus better. I highly recommend it!

I usually drink nespresso, which I LOVE! After switching from kuerig pods to nespresso I will never return to “deli” coffee again. My coffee taste buds are now to snobby to even drink coffee in a restraunt without complaining about how awful it is. lol. BUT, this coffee is DELICIOUS! I did a pour over, one packet of pyure stevia and Heavy whipping cream. Delicious! You will have to play around with coffee and water amounts until you have the strength of coffee flavor you like but it is smooth, no jitters, easy on the tummy. I cannot find anywhere how much actual caffeine is in a serving so if anyone is able to locate that information I would be greatful to know. Recommend with 2 thumbs up. Also cheaper here then their website.

I had to stop drinking coffee because it made me pee every 20 seconds, so I ordered this. I thought it was caffeine free but so far no side effects like regular coffee and this is FREAKING DELICIOUS to boot! The best coffee I have had! I brewed over a single cup filter and it was great hot, but I left it for later and it was still amazing after a few hours of sitting out when I got back! Thanks FS your product is excellent!

Eh the bag of ground adaptogen coffee is not as tasty as the instant adaptogen packets. I’m a bit disappointed, because I love the individual packets of this stuff! It honestly taste like a ground coffee that’s been sitting around. I’ll monkey with it, add some cinnamon or something so it doesn’t go to waste. But I’m not excited. We have a coffee subscription for a local roaster, so I am spoiled with fresh beans. I used to use the instant adaptogen coffee packets at work, saved me from going to the cafe everyday. It seemed silly to use instant packets at home, so I thought I’d try the bag of adaptogen coffee. Disappointed. Perhaps a whole bean version would be better ?

On the description above, this product is stated to have “half the caffeine” but that is so not helpful! There is nothing on the bag or label that states anything about reduced caffeine. I may be the exception because it makes me very jittery, and given that the ingredients include only coffee with mushroom “extracts,” the half-caff claim is suspect. But perhaps I am sensitive to Lion’s Mane. If the company monitors these reviews, please provide the mg of caffeine per T. With that said, I love the flavor. It reminds me of Postum, a coffee-like grain beverage I grew up with. I like this product enough to keep it on my Subscribe and Save List but I use it sparingly and not late in the day.

I bought this coffee thinking wow not coffee. I have auto immune issues and am healing a leaky gut, an irritated bladder and serious constipation. I’m doing better and I limit this pricey coffee to one big scoop. The PH is between 4 and 6 — that’s a big difference. I need 6. I’m not that picky with flavor because I don’t like strong coffee and use whole cream anyway. So it is half coffee, not just mushroom. It is good. I have an excellent AIP diet so not sure if it’s worth the money for me nutritionally, especially if the acid level is still there. I already eat mushrooms and garden grown greens. I may mix in with low acid coffee but I did find a coffee with a 6 PH and I will go to that. Water is a 7.

This coffee is a favorite and I have reordered many times. The packaging and ingredients have now changed without explanation. Old ingredients include 250 mg of Lions main extract and 250 mg Chaga extract. New New package does not list quantities of mushroom extracts. Why? Company is not being transparent.

I ordered this coffee because I was intrigued by the idea of mushroom coffee. Well, I tried it, and I wasn’t a fan. It was drinkable, especially when I add in my usual stuff (chocolate, caramel syrup, half & half). However, it’s not something I will buy again. I think this is one that you have to buy for all of the “feel good” reasons and not for flavor or quality reasons.

I heard about Lion’s Mane, listening to the Joe Rogan Podcast. There are many brands to choose from so, allow yourself to do some research. I decided to give this particular brand a try after seeing the abundance of positive reviews left by Amazon customers, just like us.
I have never “enjoyed” a cup of coffee like I just did minutes ago, after trying finishing my first cup of Four Sigmatic Dark Roast Coffee. From the first sip, I felt relaxed. Relaxed?! -from coffee??? Yes, well, I felt like my internal and mental systems warming up gradually, but powerfully, and that the shell of my morning haze was cracking from multiple sides. Perhaps it’s psychosomatic, only time will tell. Fact is, it does feel good to know that I am putting something healthier into my body as part of my morning routine. That, coupled with the fact that I love my morning coffee, is a no-brainer. I’m very much looking forward to the next few weeks. Any change, no matter how big or small, is sure to make ripple effects.
Love this coffee. Good morning everyone!

I’m only posting this review in an attempt to offset a distorted and grossly misrepresentative review written by an unwitting reviewer named “NAME_NOT_RETURNED“.
This person draws attention to acrylamide in this product, particularly as stated in a warning label. I gathered this info in 20 seconds:
Acrylamide is present in all coffee including among its ingredients a roasted bean. That means all coffee, effectively. Since this is a mixture of mushroom and coffee, it’s reasonable assume it’s healthier than a mixture of coffee alone (less coffee per serving = less acrylamide).
Also:
“The major food sources of acrylamide are French fries and potato chips; crackers, bread, and cookies; breakfast cereals; canned black olives; prune juice; and coffee.”
We can all agree that we shouldn’t present half-truths as facts and found our judgments on misrepresentations. Let’s limit apocrypha and juvenile logic, as well as take pride in the most basic duty of cursory (literally 20sec) research.
Love you bye.

Hi, I was searching for regular coffee, and I stumbled on this and thought I would give it a shot – I never even heard of mushroom coffee until this month! Let me sum it up: I really like it and would highly recommend it. I am a minor coffee snob: I go for dark, oily roasted whole coffee beans and grind them per cup in my burr grinder and use a french press. This Sigmatic Mushroom coffee uses dark roasted coffee beans, but is ground more finely for pour-overs or drip machines, but it still works fine in the french press. From a pure coffee taste standpoint the Mushroom coffee isn’t my ideal (it’s also not pure coffee, so one has to take that into account); however, it does have a very decent taste and what’s most important is the effect. One cup of mushroom coffee seems to have a more powerful ‘punch’ than regular coffee, with the added health benefits of the mushrooms. There is a very slight mushroomy taste, but it’s minor and goes very well with the coffee. Very interestingly I need less of the mushroom coffee to start my day compared to regular coffee. So yeah, if you are considering trying this I would highly recommend.
Added: I would like to mention the adhesive strip used to keep the bag closed doesn’t work too well. I would recommend to the manufacture to use crimp ties like most other coffee bags use as they work much better.

Bought this for my husband who loves Folger’s coffee and I wanted something better quality for him to try. He loves coffee and mushrooms so I thought this would be perfect. However, he did not notice this having any added benefits that it describes. It seems like almost any other decent coffee, so not worth the astronomical price when I can get Pete’s coffee for $8, which gives you more that this little bag and is good quality coffee. I tried it as well and if there was any added benefits with the mushrooms in it, it was so subtle, I could not tell. Overall I do not think this is worth the price at all.

As much as I love health food and supplements, I’m often suspicious of them and try to be critical of claims. This was recommended on a podcast I listened to and the idea of it was enough to intrigue me. Normally I’m cheap when it comes to the coffee I buy, but I tell you what, I really like Four Sigmatic. I thought for sure it was going to taste like hot garbage, but it’s probably some of the best coffee I’ve had. I do feel like it gives me more of a boost than a normal brew, and that I need less of it to get me going. Overall, very satisfied with this product and I’ve already purchased my second pack.

A tasty coffee, especially since I wasn’t sure what to expect from it in the first place, given that it’s made from mushrooms. Bought it for someone else who shared a cup with me, my main intention was to share out the health benefits that come with Lion’s Mane and Chaga. So far, I have not turned into a mushroom yet, so you can safely consume this. You literally wouldn’t know it’s made from mushrooms, and that’s fine, because after the mushroom-ice cream incident, I know my limits. So if anyone is wondering, yes, it tastes like coffee, as coffee should. Sort of like a mild roast.
