This is my second bottle. It is just more cost-effective than the pills by any brand. I have been taking Omega 3 for many years and after doing my research I like the concentration it comes in, and despite a possible loss of the Omega 3 due to stomach acids, I see benefits, so I have purchased another one.
My 1 year old and my 3 year old love it, but in case it doesn’t show which one I got – I buy the Lemon Flavor. It masks the fishy taste nearly 100%. If you take it on an empty stomach you will get the burps and the fishy taste will show some at that point, but if taken with food or after/before a meal, I have not once had any problems.
I put a small piece of an anchovy with it for my 3 year old just to give it some salty fishy flavor (think sardines in oil) and she LOVES it. If I don’t feel like messing with an anchovy, I sprinkle some sea salt on the spoon to give it some flavor and she never turned it down. The 1 year old takes is plain because I started young with her at about 6 months.
I just chug it. An unpleasant second due to drinking oil, but beats the higher prices of the pills.

I was recommended to consume cod liver oil for health and wasn’t happy with the anticipation of the taste. I did some research and Carlson seems to be a good company for this kind of product so I gave it a try. I am so glad I tried. The taste is not offensive at all and I like the lemony flavor which I find almost pleasing. Even better was the health benefit. My vision, especially night vision improved dramatically during those few months of taking the cod liver oil. I will sure to repurchase in the winter when I will need this more. Absolutely a good product, justifiable price for its benefits. Good purchase. I will buy again. (Just plan well and decide if the bigger bottle is not too big for you to consume before it gets old. They have smaller bottle too)

I’ve only taken 5 doses of this Cod Liver Oil so far and I love the taste; completely like lemon, without any aftertaste. It is oil, so it’s odd to get used to swallowing at first—but it is a very thin oil, making it easier. I wanted to start taking it for the many health benefits that omega unsaturated fatty acids give to your skin, hair, heart, and cholesterol levels. I’m hope to soon notice the “glow” that I’ve seen and heard people rave about when taking this. I’m currently in medical school and do want to let future buyers know that this product will NOT cause cancer of any kind. It does have synthetic vitamin A, Retinyl palmitate, which is an antioxidant (cancer-fighting) all on its own. It’s also added to many low-fat and nonfat dairy products that have been stripped of many fat-soluble vitamins, such as vitamin A. It is true that in a small clinical trial, retinyl palmitate was shown to exacerbate skin cancer in rats when applied topically and fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D, E, and K do have a toxicity limit but you would need to consume around 20,000 IU (or 20 doses of cod liver oil) per day to reach toxic levels that can cause adverse effects. So, in short, take the serving size daily without worries of cancer and reap the benefits.

We bought this because we watched a YouTube video by Dr. Berg about how cod liver oil can help reduce acne in men. We read lots of reviews on Amazon and other sites and, for the price, this was the best quailty cod liver oil and had the best reviews. The other highly rated brand was just out of our price range. Within two days of my husband taking a teaspoon at dinner, he already saw a drastic reduction in his acne. Almost overnight his face went from inflamed and breaking out, to healing and very little redness. My husband went through tons of oral and topical treatments, including antibiotics, along with expensive washes and face routines to attempt to control his acne since she was a teen. This has been the simplest and most successful thing so far. Not to mention the cheapest. It’s not a perfect cure, he is still battling some cystic acne and the occasional pimple, but it’s worth a try.

I regret buying this. Why the 5 star rating though? Well, it’s still a great product, but for me on a personal level, it’s extremely difficult to take, and I’ll explain why.
Firstly, the good thing, is this doesn’t smell or taste like fish at all. It just smells/tastes like lemon. A very faint, mild lemon smell. It tastes like practically nothing. But taste isn’t all that’s important…
Unfortunately for me, I’m not crazy about the lemon smell. It smells like a nice cleanser for your floors. The most unpleasant thing for me, is the mouthfeel. A mouth full of oil is just totally foreign to me, and it’s gag worthy. Even chasing this with water barely helps. Pairing a smell I don’t like, with oil, makes me worried I just wasted $40. (I should have bought the smaller bottle, darn) I plan on trying to find ways to sneak this into my body, besides just straight on a spoon.
Like I said, I can’t rate this poorly, because it really is a great product despite my personal tastes. It’s obviously high quality, the bottle it comes in is beautiful, the quality is fantastic, there’s no fish odor, no weird stuff in the oil. It’s way more reliable than pills, and that’s the number one reason I wanted to buy this. If you’re looking for something superior to fish oil pills, and you don’t mind swallowing straight oil, then I think you’re going to really enjoy and benefit from this.
If anyone out there has tips on how to eat this, please share with me. PLEASE!
