Vitamin C is also necessary for the production of collagen and is therefore important for skin, bone, and joint health. It is also needed for amino acid metabolism and the utilization of many nutrients, such as folic acid and iron. Vitamin C is a MUST if taking MSM because it helps the body to absorb and utilize it more efficiently and effectively! I USED to have horrible allergies so I take MSM twice a day. NOW’s Calcium Ascorbate is a double whammy because it’s Vitamin C & D in one tiny scoop — it’s the ONLY brand I use!!

Dr. Andrew Saul recommends rubbing your gums with this every day for receding gums. It worked for me!

I have read that taking vitamin C with calcium guarantees great absorption; however, the calcium is in the carbonate form which causes constipation. It’s also a lot easier to take a pill.

I got this to preserve apple slices for the kids’ lunchboxes. The kids enjoy fresh-cut apples but absolutely refuse to eat slices packed in their snack bags because they brown (fussy little “darlings”). Getting them to eat more fruit is an important problem to solve. Calcium Ascorbate definitely works.
Calcium Ascorbate is the key ingredient in patented fruit-preservation rinses, and it is used by major retailers like McDonalds in their fresh fruit products. It is the perfect preservative– practically no taste or color, cheap, shelf-stable, safe, and it consists exclusively of two essential dietary components– Vitamin C and Calcium. I don’t know why this isn’t a staple in every household.
Being pure, there is not much to say about the product itself, it’d be like reviewing elements on the periodic table. The advantage of calcium ascorbate over ascorbic acid (which we also bought) are twofold– the calcium neutralizes the acidity of the Vitamin C so it is tasteless in small quantities; and it supplies the essential mineral calcium in a form the body can use. All the other preservative and health benefits of vitamin C apply and I am not aware of any disadvantages. Amazon delivered on time, and the price was as good as I could find anywhere for this quantity. It comes to pennies per application, and ultimately saves money since we will be discarding fewer apples.
I am still experimenting with the application. So far I’ve mixed 1 tsp in 4oz of purified water, and apply it as a fine-mist spray. It definitely improves the look of apple slices overnight. I will try increasing the concentration until either there is no improvement and/or it alters the taste.
Photo: apples on the right were treated with 1tdp calcium ascorbate in 4oz of water. Apples on left were untreated. Left to sit overnight. Taste was indistinguishable.

Really no taste and dissolves easily in liquid. Great way to take your vitamin C.

I mix in a beverage about 1/8 teaspoon of this product and drink it several times through out the day. Studies show that after taking vitamin c blood serum levels of vitamin c reach their peak in 30 minutes and then fall precipitously. I prefer the Now brand because it dissolves far better than a couple of other name brands that I have tried. I use this product primarily because of its tissue healing properties. Dentists have commented how quickly my gums heal after a tooth extraction and my dermatologist on how quickly my skin heals after a skin lesion was excised. I have been taking buffered vitamin c daily for decades. I have never had influenza even when not taking a flu shot and I have never had a cold since I started taking vitamin c a long time ago. I realize this is all anecdotal but still may apply to others.

I use this for my gums and also to blend with my facial cleanser for exfoliation, the crystals in this brand are a little too big. I tried bc my other brand was out of stock. It’s not bad, but I prefer solaray brand for this.
