I like the nutrition profile of this protein powder but I can hardly handle the taste because they add cherry flavoring. I bought a can of this brand when I was traveling and loved the ingredients. It was a green vanilla flavor powder with mycelium of the shiitake mushroom, water lentils, and pumpkin. It tasted a little grassy but I loved getting some diversity in my protein sources and particularly no rice (arsenic concerns) or pea. I bought this in too much of a hurry and didn’t pay attention that it was white and had different protein sources. Still clean ingredients and a quality product, which is why 4 stars (would do 3.5 if I could) but the addition of the cherry flavoring totally ruins it for me. Why wouldn’t they call it cherry vanilla? It’s just too strong of a cherry flavor for me and I wasn’t expecting it. Bleh.

I’ve tried a lot of health food products as far as protein powders/meal replacements. I have pretty much settled on this shake as I feel great taking it daily. I’ve lost weight, have more energy and it’s apart of my “feel good” routine. Before purchasing it, I did a bunch of research on products containing heavy metals, carcinogenics, GMO, etc… My thoughts were that any fine powder products have got to be produced with metal machines and chances are quite a bit of that metal can get into foods. After I concluded my research, this product basically came out on top in nearly every category. Thanks Biochem!

The packaging is different, sure, so what? I like the old package better, I think the new package looks stupid, but that’s just my opinion, and has nothing to do with the contents.
The taste is definitely different. Unfortunately, I tossed the old containers before I opened the new ones, so I can’t compare the labels. I don’t see anywhere on either container about it being “new” or “improved” (I buy chocolate and vanilla and blend them – the chocolate is too harsh, but the vanilla doesn’t mask the “delicious” chemical taste).
UPDATE: Someone else commented that the new taste was like banana, and I agree. The first couple of weeks I added cranberry juice, vanilla, or peppermint flavoring to hide the banana-ness. After that, I don’t notice it as much anymore, or maybe constantly opening the container helps it to dissipate.
However, I will not order this anymore, because the product was obviously changed without warning and I will not condone or support that.
